In case you may have been in a cave for the last while, WWF has bought WCW and ECW. now they are the only one, they plan to in the new year split it into two to create competition.

I know what your saying, how is the company really going to be competition for itself, my thoughts exactly.

Right now from all internet reports WWF raw will remain WWF Raw but WWF Smackdown will become WWF Nitro.

Basically a WWF and a WWF lite.

To me this is no real competion

If they really wanted to improve the overall product they would buy the same time slot on opposing channels so that it would be against itself .

Now one could argue that they would favor better rwriting to the station that was most favored, but wouldn't you if you were trying to make a profuct rock, get the best writers for both and pit them head to head against one another instead of one one day and one another day.

So what are your thoughts

MMA BEATS WRESTLING

Pro Wrestling is a sham nowadays. I suggest you watch UFC and PRIDE instead. You will see full contact hand to hand reality combat with no gimmicks, theme songs, or blind referees.

i announced this on a post last week
scott steiner is in the uk at the moment
he is in talks to join the wwf/wcw in the new year

i lnow you did, I just wanted to expand the thought a bit of how two better do it, if vince is really after ratings.

like remember the olden days when the competition aired opposite time and you really had to work for an audience.

that was what I was thinking. a progam to run opposite raw and one to run opposite smackdown

I would love to watch those, wanna send me the tapes?

Competition?

I don't really think they need competition. The only real danger now is that with tw wrestling federations, and, conceivably four different shows on, there will be a glut on the market.

What I'd like to see is two different types of federations, based either on wrestling style, or on how the federation is presented. I truly believe that they're honing the "fired" wrestlers for the new federation, featuring Paul Heyman at the mike talent. I'm not sure who they'd get to do play-by-play.

I know I'd watch as much of it as I could. :)

I'm watching the McMahon "kiss my ass" angle playing out now on Raw and it's just cracking me up. Man I do love this. ;)

I think thats how they are gonna do it. WWF Raw will be more hardcore since its on cable while WW Nitro is gonna be more traditioonally WCW Style and cleaner since its on network TV.

It is all still controled by Stamford, CT.

There is a new group starting in Florida headed by Hulk Hogan that hopes to go national soon.

NOT EXACTLY, TODD

You're almost right, Todd. WWF did not buy the ECW. ECW went down under long before McMahon/WWF purchased WCW. ECW went out of business and most of its wrestlers, such as the Dudleys, TAZZ, and Al Snow, went over to WWF while many others (Raven, Lance Storm, and Kidman) went over to WCW.

I, personally, feel that this is a great mistake of McMahon. Everytime a millionaire buys their competitor, they lose business and sometimes goes broke (i.e., Popeye's CEO Al Copeland buying Church's Chicken). I don't know if you've read the latest news but WWF's ratings have taken a 50% nose dive. And if the McMahon's purchase of WCW isn't enough, Vince & Linda McMahon will be the executive producers of the upcoming film, "The Scopion King", starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

There will never be wrestling like Mid-South Wrestling anymore. I love when ESPN Classic shows some Mid-South replays. I mean, really................ Who's better than:

Junkyard Dog
Killer Karl Kox
"Dirty" Dick Murdoch
Ted Dibiase
Colonel Buck Robley
General Skandar Akbar
"Big Cat" Ernie Ladd
"Mr. #1derful" Paul Orndoff
Cowboy Bill Watts
Mike George
Maddog Buzz Sawyer

Here's the answer...........NOBODY.
