I talk to a few people who have been on the board forever, and recently more than one of them has mentioned, that it isn't the same as it was, and that the changes weren't good.

So, I have a curious mind, and we have a search feature. I started reading threads from years back and...wow. I'm not saying they were right or wrong, but they were different. Very different.

I see some old timers get bashed for being synical and untrusting and well, nasty at times. If you look back a bit, you'll see why. Some of them weren't always so. They've just been here long enough to have been burned. Was it better then? Well it might have been more interesting. It was definitely more communal. From what I can see the community was tighter, much smaller, so when someone fucked someone else over, well let's just say the Bratcat Troll Anthology of Accusations and Denials has NOTHING on some of the shit I've been reading.

Why am I bringing this up? Don't know. I just thought maybe someone else might like to try it and see what Lit's past is like. It makes the present far more understandable and maybe, and that is a STRONG maybe, it might make people now, a little more tolerant.

Just a thought.

I've looked through the ancient posts before, and you're right, things were different then.

I think a lot of the moaning about change is like someone being sad because the small town they grew up in isn't so small anymore. Sure, they like some of the new people, and it's really convenient to have a WalMart just up the road, but it's not the same. You have to lock your doors now, and the woman in the gas station doesn't know you by name anymore.

They have every right to miss the way things used to be, but there's no way to go back, so we all need to evolve just a bit.

The Board used to be smaller. Everyone knew everyone.

Trolls were much more effective, and rattled more people, and made some leave.

More personal information used to get out. Real names, personal web sites, even phone numbers and college addresses.

If you got to 500 posts in a year, you were considered a great old-timer, and not just a Newbie with a lot to say.

Todd O'Vision was Bobtoad, and a little more sane, I think.

Everyone loved Endlessly.

No one had an avatar or a sig line.

Few people had skins thick enough to take a real fight.

People actually thought they could win an argument by saying "Nuff said".

I never said anyone was moaning, not in the least. They were comments NOT complaints. These aren't people who moan.

Not in a whiny way anyway. lol

Leave and actually STAY gone! Unimaginable.

So did the theme song from Cheers play when you logged on? The older threads I have read were much more personal, but I suppose this is the price of success. My question was whom played the role of Woody, pc or dcl

I barely remember the old days. Guess I'm a senile old fogey.

I can't believe you airbrushed my booby! And it's not a pimple, ya shit, it's a bump. I have four on my other boob, wanna see?

and sunny, I didn't mean moaning like it was a bad thing. Moaning can be good too.

You think just cuz you're an old timer you can be mean to us newbies??? HUH???

As fascinationg as it was back in the good ole days of Lit,they still had almost the same frigging arguments that can be found around today.

Change the names and the dates and bam...history is alive again.
