Wow. Just... Wow. (political)

Yeah it's scary, but how many people didn't he show in the clip asked him if he's fucking crazy? What's scary is the onesidedness of the clip.

Cameraman: Do I think Obama is a terrorist?
Person on Camera: NO. Are you fucking crazy?

See doesn't make for good smear video, now does it.

same shit, different lunatics

That's from Pennsylvania. ^^^

Zeb, calling this "one-sided" and "smear video" completely misses the point.

Willful, blind ignorance and hate isn't one side of an argument. It's uncivilized behavior, pure and uncut.

Obama's running 4 points ahead in most polls and that's a greater margin than the margin of error. If he doens't seriously screw up, he should take it.

Think what a blow that will be to Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. If the US Prez is black, how can their campaign of victimology have any more validity?

I know it's an awful, over-used thing to say, but how can anyone look at this and not think, "Good Germans."

Um, actually, they're probably mostly polish.

But, yeah, always enjoy good representation of fellow Ohioans.

I'm sure if he'd have gone to an Obama rally there'd be just as much rampant stupidity. We're known for it. Really.

I don't find it so much scary as annoying, mostly because I've dealt with those on the liberal side of the spectrum who were exactly the same. For these types of all political bents it's easier to believe generalizations and rumors because they want to believe them because it fuels their ideology.

How can you claim with a straight face that Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton have not been victims of racism? Jackson was standing next to MLK when he was assassinated, for Pete's sake!

How can you look at racism made personal at these events, and think that Obama's election will somehow make it go away? They don't even view him as an American!

I'll take exception to the 'Germans' tag. Every nation has people like this.

And yes, I think it's a one sided video. We have no idea how many people he didn't show because they didn't say the right things.

I think there's a few too many Buckeyes drinking from the Cuyahoga River. :D

Video of the mob at a Palin rally in Ohio.

The people were idiotic and the video very revealing, if it were completely true and unbiased reporting.

My problem with it is that the Blog that it came from is run by Tim Russo, who has his own agenda and is a convicted child molester.

I'd be REAL hard pressed to call this unbiased journalism. Because he no longer has any veracity in my book, I don't know if all of those people were real or if some of them were plants simply to create a "show (such as the lady who kept jumping in from of everyone spouting silliness)

True, but then again there are just as many people on the other side of the coin who blindly hate Palin and McCain. I'm just saying that the rabid dog has bitten people on both sides.

The second link is from a totally different rally in another state. The ones where supporters have yelled "Traitor!" and "Terrorist!" during Palin's and McCain's speeches were at separate events in the South, and were widely reported on major news sites, with video.

Russo got caught in an Internet chat-room sting soliciting sex from a minor male, who was actually an FBI agent. Here's his story.

Yes, but those who oppose McCain & Palin do so based on their policies and leave it at that. You don't hear them uttering racist comments or calling for violence like you will hear from some Republicans. Those on the right have in some cases gone beyond the pale.

I can tell you that I hate them with my eyes wide open and clearly seeing what I'm seeing

Where is an example of rabid behavior of this sort at Obama's or Biden's rallies?

Seriously.

You want to think that this is just campaign hijinks that happens in all elections? Fine.

I'll call it what it is: Fomenting a racist mob.

I don't "hate" them. They scare the fuck out of me, and I find many of the views they espouse to be absolutely repulsive.

There's nothing "blind" about it, though. It is an informed stance that is no more of a "choice" than my sexuality. The ideals they attempt to further and the methods they use to achieve their ends are at direct odds with my core beliefs.

I think it comes down to personality types. Folks on the right think they can end an argument with a gun. People on the left don't consider guns as a tool of persuasion.

There's also the issue of the altruism gene, which was addressed in a thread here recently. Science is claiming that altruism is a genetic trait, which would indicate why two people can view the same events differently. The altruism gene makes people more sensitive to their environment, which makes them care more about other people. So where do the altruists end up? On the Left.

Of course there are extremists on both sides, but speaking in general terms, one could conclude that the potential for violence is going to be much higher in the pro-gun crowd, especially when fueled by blind patriotism and prejudices left over from past generations. Examples of this would be gay-bashing (with baseball bats) and abortion doctors being murdered, all justified by conservative ideology.

Jesse Jackson is still standing next to MLK as he's being assassinated. I am now in my sixties and that happened when I was in college. Jackson has made political and economic hay out his victimhood for the last 40 years. Are you trying to tell me that nothing in America has changed in 40 years? Forty years ago it was a miracle that we elected an African-American as mayor of Los Angeles. Now we are on the threshold of electing one President of the United States. Do the opinions of a collection of Kallikaks in Ohio override the majority of voters in the entirety of the U.S.? These same people felt like that towards JFK because he was Catholic. Are you trying to convince me that anti-Catholic sentiment matters, too?

I agree on that one. I actually used to respect McCain (though I didn't agree with him on most things) until I started finding out just what an anger jockey he is. His legendary status for telling dyke, rape, and vast quantities of racist jokes just doesn't seem appropriate to me. Never mind that he has an awful health care plan, that he's playing the "Let's win this war with honor!" game (that didn't work in the war he actually fought in, either), and that I don't think he's got the stamina to survive his term in office.

And Sarah Palin's a white trash Christian Evangelical who her Republican compatriots in AK describe as an opportunistic, vacuous idiot ("George Bush with glasses"). I don't care if she's voted Democrat all her life; I don't want evangelical anythings in office. I don't >hate< her, but I find her excuses at folksiness disingenuous at best. I think she's a nasty little person.

No, no, I agree here: I no longer respect McCain and I never, ever could've respected Palin. My eyes are open and I can be very clear about why I don't like them.

I have to say that I have traveled among some pretty hard core factions on both sides. Being a democrat among bankers is like being an african-american in the NHL.

My two best friends from high school are on opposite ends of the political spectrum. One voted for Bush twice and would do so again, even now, if she could. Seriously. The other is a bisexual blogger from Berkley with a medical marijuana card and a belief that republican = mentally challenged.

I have to say that I have NEVER seen this level of scary behavior at a democratic gathering.

The majority of the democrats I know have more puzzlement on their faces than anger when they discuss McCain/Palin.
