Wounded Souls (Closed)

Jack hustled all afternoon to get everything done for the shop and the bar.
He used the loaner car from the shop to make bank deposits and pick up
Some groceries for their trip. He saw the pickup back in the lot and headed back down to board the boat.

She was back on the boat just glad to be back and away from anywhere anyone might see her. Unknown if anyone followed her or not. She sat balled up on the couch with a glass of water waiting for him. Hoping he was safe.

Jack quickly put the groceries away before kissing her .
Time to head out for our little getaway. He flopped all the breakers
To the DC panel and disconnected the shore power and water.
Then he ran the blowers for a few minutes before firing up the engines.
Satisfied everything was running fine he backed of the docks and they
Were on the way. He held her hand as they maneuvered out into the harbor.
I think you will like it out here, it's my peaceful place.

Can't wait.

She smiled glad to be away from land it felt even safer from Callis.

They were just heading out of the channel to cross the harbor.
He hugged her close to him and pointed out some historical sites
Many people would not know. Old stone ruins that were once civil
War forts. Places where pirates were hanged and left on display as
A warning to ships entering the harbor. And some waterfront restaurants
They may stop at along the way. She seemed to be enjoying her personal
Tour guide. Honey we still have a ways to go. Would you go down below
And make us a couple of drinks.

Sure.

Reluctantly slipping from his arms she headed down into the ship to get them some drinks

Jack checked his gauges and heading as he steered southeast across the harbor. He was enjoying the ocean breeze and late afternoon sun when his phone rang.
Mikes ID popped up on the screen and jack answered" What up mike"
Hey Boss a black Escalade just showed up in the parking lot. Just one guy
not the ones from the other night. He was checking out your Toyota pickup and
Talking to himself . Took a look out at the marina and tried the gate then just
kicked some dirt and left. Jack could feel the anger in his face , he knew it was
Callis. " Jack you said you wouldn't get tangled up in any more shit. You promised the guys that was all over". Jack sucked in a deep breath " I know mike I know.
I will put together a plan to end it quick by the time I get back. He heard Leena
coming up behind him. " mike I gotta go".

Everything okay? Do we need to head back?

An almost pout to her voice as she walked up to him holding out a whiskey for him.

Everything's fine, you'll love this place. It's my secluded little hideaway.
We can kick our shoes off,go skinny dipping, and make love under the stars all night long.

Mmm I love the sound of that.

She stopped her drink one arm hugging him.from behind as she stood there feeling so safe not knowing what was going on.

They crossed into the south channel and into the mouth of the
Back cove river. After passing under a couple of bridges the water
Narrowed then opened up into a small bay at the river bend.
He explained its actually the back of a state park but you can't see any roads from here. Jack turned the boat up into the current and put the engines
In neutral so the boat drifted back between the other boats where he dropped the anchor. Once he was certain the anchor was secure he shut the motors down. Now you could hear the peels of laughter from the children jumping of
The other boats and splashing each other in the river. Birds circle on breeze overhead, joggers ran along the paths following the river, and someone tossed
A tennis ball of their boat sending the family dog flying into the water to paddle around with the kids. He turned to watch Leena taking it all in with a smile on her lips. They will all be gone within and hour so . An hoo our after that the sun will set.

Okay sounds good.

Snuggled into his arms and smiled watching the kids remembering what Callis had done and turned to walk away from them.

When she turned away he knew something was wrong...he just didn't know what. He sighed thinking to himself, best to give her some space. She will tell me when she's ready. With that in mind he went to the stern sitting down and dangling his feet in the water . The neighbors dog paddled past proudly displaying her tennis ball . His mind was drifting.

Callis didn't want kids and didn't want her to lose her figure so he had made sure she couldn't have kids and sometimes seeing happy kids hurt a little. She had gone below deck and curled up waiting for them to leave before going back out above deck.

The boats pulled anchor and headed home . He remained were he was
When he heard the cabin door open. He remembered her saying she could
Not have children and her retreat made some sense. He had hoped they
They would make her happy and not the opposite . He also understood she had a lot of healing to do. And he would have to get rid of her ex so she could.
He also knew he would have to push her for more information and likely make her pain worse before it could get better. He promised himself he would not do that tonight as she approached.

Walking over to him and sitting down by him.

Quiet... I like this.

She leaned against him as they sat there starting out over the water

He put an arm around her and hugged her tight.
He could still sense A deep sadness in her and desperately wanted to save her from it.
It frightened him to realize he barely new her yet could feel the slightest change in her emotions without a word between them. He broke free from
His thoughts and wanted to lighten the mood. With a soft kiss on her cheek
He whispered in her ear. ..what say we shuck these clothes and go
For a swim?

I think that's a great idea.

Slowly standing she stripped out of the clothes not giving any thought to scars bruises or marks of past trauma with Callis. She stood there waiting for him to join her.

He lowered the ladder before stepping out of his shorts and pulling his shirt over his head. Leaning down to kiss her he noticed some scarring on her back but kept his mouth shut reminding himself she would talk about when she was ready. Taking her hand he counted down 3...2...1 and they jumped.

Jumping in the water with him she smiled and once getting bearings swam around a little bit relaxing and happy.

A little colder than expected.

She laughed but was smiling truly happy.

Jack dove under and popped up behind her. He loved hearing her laugh
As they floated he wrapped an arm around her waist and kissed her neck. Her back rested on his chest and whispered in her ear.." it's only fair to warn you..I have a mermaid fetish and you're sporting the nicest tail I've ever seen.

Glancing back over her shoulder brow raised with an exasperated smirk at his humor.

Seriously...

He laughed and gave her wink. Oh yes indeed and I plan to worship it later on after I feed you of course. I don't want to get you all worked up on empty stomach. Then he kissed her deeply as they drifted. The setting sun bounced
Of the water and warmed their faces. The only sound was the gentle lapping of the river against the hull of the boat. It was a moment he wished could last forever.

Curling into the kiss she hugged him close floating along. It was perfect and deep down that scared her a little but she would deal with that later.

This is wonderful

She said as the kiss finally broke.

Back on the boat he rinsed them off with the fresh water hose then patted her down with a beach towel then he put another over the padded bench.
Dark now except for a sliver of moonlight he went inside to get the sandwiches and put them out on a small folding table in front of her.
I think I have chardonnay if you like wine.
