Am I missing something here? This sounds dangerously close to dreaded "p" word unless the writer (in writing) told you "yea, take my story idea and see what else you can come up with." Without that, I doubt any of us would (should) touch it with a 10ft pole.

I'd like my creative ideas protected, and I'm positive I am not alone in this. This isn't some patent issue where you can change the original by 10% and relabel for sale (or viewing, in this case); it was somebody's ideas and hard work.

If we don't respect anything else, we respect that.
