Would I know an Etta James song if I heard it?

Oh, I hope so.

Do you recognize Bettye lavette when you hear her?

If you don't know At Last, you have been living at the bottom of a rabbit hole. :)

That very well could be true, but I also spend very little time reading quantum mechanics.

Is that her real hair?

I don't know her personally, though considering that At Last was recorded in the '60's, maybe not. I have seen her with several different wigs, though also without.

ETA: I can read and listen to music at the same time. ;)

So, she's still alive?

Nope. Not at all. There are some great r&b women who deserve to be recognized on their own. Just trying to see if your ear leans that way.

I'm a white boy in the middle of a cornfield. The only soul I've got is on the bottom of my shoes.

I know better than that. I hear Dan Penn in some of you posts. And he's one of my favorites.

Your house may be very small but its windows look out on a very large world.

It almost sounds like you have been reading some pratchett lately.

Also, Bert, check out some of the soulful sounds of Aretha. If you have not heard her, then I really know you are in a hole. As that means that you have never seen Blues Brothers.
