Would be a knight

Thorn slipped her cowl over her head, only showing her eyes. She laughed as she watched Treborin rush around, She grabbed her chocolate mare and saddled up, hitching her tent she never used and supplies. "Do you need help?" She said smiling although nobody could tell. "They'll be getting up soon".

Ella had been awake for some time, having many things on her mind. This vampire business was at the top of the pile along with wondering how close the searcher elves were by now. She paced back and forth in her small tent when the Halfling barged in without even knocking.

She stopped in mid stride raised her eyebrow at him before speaking, counting on her fingers she started on him,

"Halfling...(one finger),your late, and your impossibly rude for not asking permission to enter...(two fingers), you should have asked what I usually have for breakfast...(three fingers)."

She stared at him for long moments before continuing,

"I am hoping you will get all these things right by the end of the day. Oh....and you didn't bring me something to drink...(four fingers), I like hot tea in the mornings, if your interested in knowing. When you go and get my tea, just bring along a piece of cheese as well. I'll take this plate outside so you can pack up my tent once you get the rest of my breakfast to me."

She took the plate from his hands lifted the flap of the tent and as she exited she added,

"I hope you had a moment to take care of Helio my beloved horse, it's going to be a long day and I won't tolerate Helio being forgotten."

Ella went over to the nearest rock sitting on the edge and waited to see how Treborin would react. She knew she was being hard on him, but life in the army was hard, the sooner he adapted the sooner he would become an asset. As she took a bite of bread she noticed a strange woman walking past Roderick's horse. Her forehead knitted as she wondered who the newcomer was.

Roderick was finishing his meditations just as the sun rose, he rewrapped his left arm and then changel his clothes and donned his armorning once more, the lion's head helm hanging dangling from a strap tied to his belt. He watched the various underlings of the army camp scurry around to prepare breakfast for the men and get the place broken down to continue the march. After taking it in for a few moments he began the quick task of taking down and packing up his own tent, these next twelve days would be ardously long.

Thorn couldn't help but roll her eyes as Ella scolded Treborin in her tent. She watched them both exit her tent and watched Roderick pack up his tent. Thorn hopped on top her horse, after she groomed and fed it. These mornings would be annoyingly long if all of this continued to happen were Treborin would have to do Ella's things before his own. Although obedience was needed in the army, you learn to fight. She sighed and waited for everyone to finish.

Treborin, left Ella, while cursing under his breath. She hadn't said anything about her horse, she could of done hers and Roderick's horse at the same time.
It had been very late when he had been ordered to get her breakfast in the morning, so he hadn't asked what she wanted, and she didn't say what time, so how could he be late. Although he did agree he should of knocked... he smirked, what if she had been naked.

He rushed back to the food tent to see a big pot of bubbling water. he took a cup of the pile and walked over to the man who was packing up the food preparing to depart. "Excuse me, I have been sent to get..." he had forgotten her name. "Ella some cheese and tea."

The man looked confused. "Who?" He asked.

"Ella... The elf in charge!" Treborin said trying to get the man to realise how important it was.

"I haven't met the new commander... but I know you Halfling. You shouldn't be here." another larger man then placed his hand on Treborin's shoulder, and turned hum around.

"I don't like stinking Elves, and Halflings are even worse!" With out warning he hit Treborin in the stomach, forcing him to take a step back. The punch wasn't as hard as the one he had felt the day before, but it still hurt.

Treborin had had enough, he took all of his anger and launched him self at the large man, his fist hitting the man in the jaw with tremendous speed. The man seemed to be moving in slow motion, as his head turned and spit flew from his mouth. The man landed face down in the mud, as Treborin rubbed his knuckles before turning to face the man in charge of the food. He was standing there his mouth open, not believing his eyes.

"I will take that cheese and tea now!" Treborin said smiling, but the man he had just hit had drawn a dagger and he stood up, anger etched on his face.

Five minutes passed since Treborin went to the camp to get Ella some tea and cheese. Getting sick of waiting, Thorn trotted along on her horse through the path he took. She came into a clearing where the camp was, but she saw enough to quickly get off her horse. A man with his mouth agap, and another drawing a dagger out on a smiling Treborin. She walked over next to Treborin, and drew both her daggers out, "Now soldiers, if anything but soldiers. I have seen this man take down a few vampires, I'm wondering have you?" She pulled down her mouth part, revealing her face. She smiled showing her new white fangs. "Would you, like to try? I recently found out some vampire magic... Or are the cowardly soldiers to scared? Surly you can kill a 20 year old women?" She said in a mocking voice. She nodded to Treborin, then his sword, saying to ready it.

Ella watched Tre go over to the mess tent, taking another bite of her rather dry bread she had just started to chew on it wishing he would hurry it up with her tea. When suddenly she heard a ruckus inside the tent, as she stood up, she noticed Thorn go inside. Quickly marching over, Ella knew she had to put a stop this this before it got out of control. She yanked the tent flap forward and poked her head inside. It was just as she feared, there they were all getting ready to fight. With disgusted fury she shouted,

"FREEZE!.... you low life snakes. Drop your weapons right now or there will be a month of KP for each and every one of you."

Getting a hold of her anger she walked in amongst them, showing how disappointed she was in their behavior. In a low voice she continued,

"As it is, you will all be on latrine duty for the next 3 days, that means when we make camp, you dig the holes, and when we leave, you fill them in. This is on top of your regular duties. Is that understood?

Before waiting for them to answer, she added,

" And let me just make myself perfectly clear, if I catch any of you wanting to fight again, you will be flogged and thrown out of this army. There is no time or room for undisciplined behavior in this army. Now do you understand?"

She looked at each and every one of them waiting for their acknowledgment of her orders.

Treborin couldn't believe it, 3 days of more work... he had only come here to get her the stupid tea and cheese. Why had those stupid men, have to start on him? He had worked so hard to get here, and now Ella was punishing him for something that wasn't his fault. He felt like arguing his case, but decided not to. He was always blamed for things that wasn't his fault.

He also felt sorry for Thorn, she had only got involved to help, and now not only was she in for more work, but had been seen standing up for him. He didn't know if that would come back and haunt her, he hoped not.

After Ella left with her tea, Treborin also left with Thorn. His next job was to dismantle Ella's tent "Fuck the horse!" he thought. if he didn't get this done, there would be no time for training. then he had to help fill in the holes... would this day get any worse.

He turned to Thorn and looked at her, she had changed cloths and most of her was covered, she looked difrent, had her face changed a little? "Thank you for helping me, but I hope it doesn't come back an bite you..." he said, before thinking that probably want the best thing to say. "I err got to go. I have to dismantle the tent and still have to find a horse. But thanks again." Treborin smiled a the wood elf, but knew something was different, he could sense it.

Thorn was to angry to listen to Treborin. Who the fuck did Ella think she was? Commanding her? Bullshit. And it was time Ella learned her place. She walked up to Ella and spoke in a harsh venomous voice "Listen bitch, I don't know we're you came from or who gave birth to you, frankly I don't care, but I will not take orders from you, got it? I know you think your the supreme and shit but here I don't consider you a commander or a leader, and I'm not taking any shit, here to me your somebody that got tangled with this vampire shit like the rest of us, I didn't enlist to fight I enlisted so I could leave that rat hole of a town behind, so I will not follow "orders" and frankly Treborin is not your slave and they don't learn how to retrieve tea in the army!" By now she was angry, and was one step away from punching her in her face, but she stood her ground and looked with fire into her eyes.

Ella stood looking down while the wood elf had her little tantrum. Once she had finished and stood looking up with fire in her eyes, Ella had no recourse but to have her ass arrested for defiance. She signaled two soldiers to come over before grimly replying,

"Thorn I place you under arrest for insurrection. Get the cuffs, I want them on her immediately."

One of the men went off to get the cuffs while the other held on to the surprised wood elf. He didn't look too upset, since there wasn't many of the men that thought she was soldier material anyway. While they waited Ella with her hands behind her back walked around the elf as she continued,

"Now let me get this straight Thorn, you enlisted in this army to not take orders? Do I have that right?
Well "Soldier" I have news for you, I AM your commander, and I WILL ORDER you as I see fit, you and anyone else I wish."

Just then the soldier came back with the cuffs, taking one hand of the girl his clamped one end on, just as he was about to put the other one on Ella stopped him,

"No, I want her hands in front of her."

He did as he was told, standing to the side for further instructions. Both men stood close in case the girl caused any more trouble. Ella sighed in disappointment at Thorn, before telling the same soldier to go to her tent and bring a small case to her. In no time he had returned with a brown leather case handing it to Ella before stepping back again. Ella opened the case and searched inside til she came up with a sheet of paper. She looked at the sullen wood elf and asked,

" Do you know how to read? It doesn't matter where is Treborin, I want him here now."

When Tre was near enough to hear, Ella continued,

"This my dear soldier girl is a list of rules that the army usually hands out to all new recruits, I assume that you didn't receive yours since you obviously had no idea that a soldier DOES get orders and DOES what he is told and yes indeed, DOES NOT ever speak unless given permission to speak. But no matter, you will find out all of this in the paper here. Better late then never, am I right men?"

Both the soldiers nodded their head simultaneously, satisfied Ella continued on,

"Now you can read it out load or Tre can...actually you two will read all the rules to each other each night until you have them all memorized. By the way there will be a test later on, make no mistake there WILL be a test. One more thing before I go, Tre you will be responsible for Thorn, so if I were you I would come to some kind of understanding with her. You don't want her actions to cause you to be punished. This is the army, and you both need to learn what that means. Oh the cuffs stay on for the next 3 days and the latrine duty for Thorn will commence after the cuffs are off."

With that being said, Ella dismissed the two soldiers and left the two elves to sort out what had happened and why.

" GOOD For YOU, HEY while your at it, LETS HAVE RODERICK CLEAN YOUR THONG!!!!" She shouted angrily. "Bitch!" She looked to Treborin. "We can do this the easy way or hard way. She doesn't seem to be aware I'm a fucking vampirE. Look I'm sorry my fight for you into the responsibility for me, but technically I'm not here for this I'm here to be alive. Not a walking corpse. I think Ella has made it clear on I'm not gonna be reviving help from you guys, so tonight if you would volunteer to take watch, let me slip out quietly... Please. She whispered the last word.

Treborin, gave a small nod to Thorn. He couldn't help feel sorry for her. Though Ella did have a point, she had joined he army and should obey Ella's orders.

He didn't know why Ella didn't like him. Thorn had openly challenged her, and if he was in charge he probably would of arrested Thorn to. Else the men and women wouldn't respect her authority and may not even follow her orders.

However he hadn't done anything to upset her that he knew about. He didn't like elves and had never hidden that fact. Being half elf had held him back, but since he had arrived in the camp he had obeyed every order she had given, and not said one word of defiance. And the arrogant, selfish woman had, as good of, made him her personal slave.

He knew all the rules of by hart, he had wanted to be a soldier, for so long, and hoped to become a knight some day. What was he going to do, was he really going to let Thorn leave, and defy Ella's command?

Roderick simply watched the entire debacle in the mess tent and shook his head when it was all over. He watched Ella intently as she walked out of the tent then turned his cold, blue eye on Treborin and Thorn once she was gone. Without saying a word he had the cook pile some eggs and a few drips of bacon on to his small tin plate then he approached the two, first his eye fell on Thorn, "If it was not your intent to follow orders then you should not have become a soldier, I'm sure that there were plenty of other ways for you to get out of the city. The way I see it you have two options, learn to obey for so long as you are enlisted and learn to get along with the other elf and enjoy our continued assistance. Or, and I recommend against this course of action, desert from the army and be branded a criminal, face this threat of yours alone and fail in curing yourself, I can promise that being hunted and executed for desertion will be the least of yours worries then."

He ate a piece of bacon and chewed it for a bit with a grimace before swallowing it and placing his gaze on Treborin, "as for you, I don't think I'll be allowing her continued treat of you, if you are to be my squire I cannot have you running about doing the bidding of others. By tomorrow I'll have you transferred to my officer's staff and as such will be under my command, if your partner in crime learns to behave herself and obey a command she may even find her own place in this army likewise elevated. I expect you to be armored and ready for training in twenty minutes, we'll train until it's time to move out, Treborin." Once he was finished he turned on his heel and left the mess tent, picking at the food on his tin as he walked along.

Treborn rushed out of the tent quickly. He decided he was going to quickly dismantle Ella's tent then get ready to train. He hoped 20mins were enough but he wanted to prove to her he could do it.

He dismantled the tent quickly, and bagged up the extra things Ella wanted him to carry. He didn't have any supplies, but still it was a lot he now had to transport. he looked over and saw Roderick's and Ella's horse already to go, and there was a third old looking horse. it was brown, and its main was a little tangled, but it was tied to Roderick's... it was his horse.

Treborin smiled as he loaded the supplies on the horse. "Well one good thing, I wont have to walk," he thought. He saw Roderick walking towards him, he hoped he want late. He knew the army would be heading out soon. "Supposed to be leaving at first light, obviously the orders have changed." he thought to himself. First light was long gone and as far as he was awair, none of the troops had left.

He hoped he had a little time to do some training. he grabbed his shield and sword and walked towards Roderick, smiling

Ella had noted that Roderick had walked over to Tre and Thorn giving them some heated words. Once he was done she watched as the halfling started to pack up her tent and things. Nodding her head she decided to approach Roderick wanting to discuss the situation as she was now calling it. By the time she was nearing him, he had finished his breakfast wiping his hands on a rag he kept somewhere on his person. She nodded a greeting,

"Morning Roderick, I wonder if you had a few minutes before we begin our day?"

She then told him what was on her mind, and he let her know what he thought of it all. In the end, she agreed, that Tre was to be under his tutelage. She was quite satisfied with this arrangement since all she really wanted was for the halfling to be near her watchful eye and to be trained for what she knew was his destiny. With that she gave Roderick a slight bow of her head before heading for her horse, glad to see everything was packed up and ready to go.

Thorn managed to sit on her horse, after sliding up she just sat and glumly watched. Roderick had a point. Perhaps it was time to follow orders. But her short temper had gotten the best of her.

She remembered her men she lead and left in the forest. She jumped off her young, brown and white, dark haired, mare. Whom she called Colors. She walked, cuffed through the forest. And to her men's tent.

"Captain! We thought you were dead! Ulfred's... Dead. We found his body in the woods... With flowers and writing.."

The soldier looked down sadly, so did the other soldiers.

"I'm sorry men, I found it too... I did the flowers.." Thorn replied sadly, and looked down as well.

"Captain, where were you? We looked but we couldn't find you. And why are you in cuffs?" The soldier said, looking up.

"Classified. Start packing up, then go north, a little and you'll see some horses. Stop there and follow behind my horse when we leave." She said also looking up

Thorn slid back atop her horse and trotted back to their camp, and thought about the words Roderick had said to her, she only enlisted because leaving the city with a group was much more safer then alone. It would be a lot easier to get along with Ella if she could talk or give commands, so that everything wasn't a punishment, or her talking to every- Her iced thoughts were interrupted by a sudden gust of wind, the atmosphere seemed to change. Her thoughts suddenly rushed to a scence of blood, and her throat seemed dry. The animal blood wasn't doing it. She looked at her hand, and focused.

Red magic glowed in her hand. She quickly put it away, just as she was entering the camp. Her anger mixed with her hunger, and she was doing her best to keep a calm expression. Although her anger was both channeled to everyone she knew. Roderick for his stupidly right words. Ella for putting her in the cuffs, and Treborin for getting her in this. She picked a red apple of the tree, crushed it with one cuffed hand. She grintted her teeth. It was getting harder to resist. "I'd perfer to leave soon, then tomarrow if you don't mind." She said camly, loud enough so all three could hear. Trying to hide her uncontrolled anger.

Three men on a horses sudenly entered the clearing. Roderick instently bowed, and Treborin follow suit not knowing why.

You are Roderick, one of the men asked. He looked very important whoever he was, very shiny armour, and several gemmed rings on his hands.
One of the other riders passed a scroll to Roderick and he read it quickly.

"Squire is my horse ready?" He suddenly shouted and Treborin.
"Yes sir," Treborin replied. "It looks like we are leaving," he thought, and a smile spread on his face. He was going to miss Thorn, he felt really sorry for her plight, but he wasn't going to miss Ella. Her style of command was not to his liking.

Roderick walked past Treborin, and looked straight at Ella. I trust you will look after my Squire. I will not be able to take him, but will return when i am able."

Ella smiled at Treborin, who was standing there with his mouth open in shock. He watch Roderick mount his horse, and leave with the other riders.

"I'v only been a squire for an hour, that's not fair! And now I'm back working for Ella!!!" He thought as his hart sank.

He was so unhappy with what had just transpired, he missed his seances telling him some one was watching from the trees.

The stranger had seen her, he jumped down before one of the elves spotted him.
He concentrated on his hand and a spark floated from his palm, heading off through the trees, to alert the other members of his troop. he kept just far enough not to be sensed, but could make sure the group didn't get away

Ella nodded her head at Roderick's announcement replying,

"Yes, I will see that he is kept busy until your return."

She glanced at Tre lifting her eyebrow before turning her head watching the human mount his horse and ride off. She briefly wondered what that could be about, before glancing towards the halfling. She sighed, she supposed she could get him to do some training besides looking after her horse and some of the other chores she had in mind. She signaled for Tre to come over to her side. When he did, she began,

"Treborin, I suppose I will take on some of the training that Roderick had planned on giving you. I know it won't be the same, but too bad...you will just have to bear it. So starting tomorrow morning, I want you to see to the care of my horse, and once you have, you can bring me my breakfast. After that you are free for one hour to have your breakfast and what ever else you need to do. Then I want to see you straight after that. You will begin your training. I will let you know more tomorrow. Dismissed."

Ella looked over the men to see that all was ready to move out. She then gave the signal and watched as the men started moving. They soon got in file and were headed deeper into the forest. Ella kept an eye on where Treborin was, as long as he wasn't lagging too far behind she decided to let him be.

Thorn decided she would hang behind, she knew she went to far, but she didn't want to seem weak and apologize, her men followed behind her. Her horse trotted along, and she knew Roderick had other important things to do, but her vampire urges weren't helping her pissed mood, and she seemed about ready to rip open their throats and.. She shook her head clear of the disgusting thoughts entering her mind. Thorn watched Treborin, she felt bad for him at the same time, he wanted to be his best, and they were all treating him like a farmboy, although training was definitely needed.

She felt bad for snapping at Ella as well, through her tough she'll, she was definitely hiding something. And she was only doing her job, as well as helping her out. Considering when they reached the army, they would either leave her or head for the cave, Thorn guessed she would find out when she got there.

Treborin was on his new horse, he was trying to stay back from Ella, but he was enjoying having it. The horse was a little old, but still a sturdy steed.

Treborin knew a lot about horses, he has lived in a stable and always looked after the horses. Even though the owners didn't like him, they had admitted he was good with them. Looking after the horses had got him a job as a squire, but the fact he was half elf had come back to bite him again and he had been dismissed and ordered to leave his master's land.

He trotted along quite happily, even though he had Ella's tent and bags on the back, his horse was moving nicely.

He looked over at Thorn, she was hanging back to. The only good things about him staying, was he could help her, and Ella had promised his training.

Hours passed, no brake and Treborin noticed the light was starting to fade. they would have to make camp soon, else they would be traveling through the night with empty bellies.

He looked into the dark trees there was a tingle in the back of his mind. Was someone there? Was Someone following them? His senses made him think so, but it was so faint he may have been wrong. He would have to hone his senses, they had already proved useful. He looked at Ella then Thorn neither of them seemed to have sensed anything. Treborin slowed till he was alongside Thorn. "You sense anything unusual? or see anyone in the trees? he asked.

The Elf was watching the group. there was to many for a direct attack. If she was alone he would try and take her. if not he would wait for the others. A spark suddenly drifted into his site, the others were close.

Anyone who stood in their way would be killed, but she had to be returned to her father alive. Nothing can happen to her, else the piece treaty would fail, and her father would have them all executed

Thorn felt eyes on her, she sharply turned her head and saw a spark. She could've sworn she saw a figure but when she looked back, she didn't see anything. She knew it wasn't vampires. They couldn't travel in broad daylight. She wondered what was going on. "Hold up!" She called from the back, Ella and Treborin trotted over. "I have told my secrets and there is no use in lieing both of you don't, so spit it out already."

Treborin was confused, as far as he was aware he wasn't keeping secrets.

Thorns eyes were boring into him and Ella. He felt he had to say something. "Iv told you everything of note. My father was a knight and monster hunter. He killed many vampires, and told me stories. That is how I know about them."

He paused for a second, hoping Ella would say anything but she looked distracted, so he continued. "As you are aware I am half elf." He lowered his voice "My mother was a blood elf but she gave me up as soon as I was born. I don't know what that means, only that I was told never to tell people this."
