I bought an 'erotica anthology' about a year ago, and while looking for something to read last night, I picked it up and flipped through it.

It sucks. The stories are badly written, not very erotic at all, and almost all of them have endings that scream "I had no idea how to end this, so i'm just going to stop typing."

So not worth the money.

I love to read erotic literature and I hate books that seem to be ok to start and then end like they jumped off the page or something stupid...sorry about your bad experience, mine was a book called "Intimate" and they were once, in about 400 pages...duhhhh.....

American Pyscho

stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid.

Not funny, poorly written, self-indulgent, author vicariously living out sick fantasies.

i bought one of those erotica anthology books when i was in the denver airport on a long layover. i can't remember which one it was, but it sucked the fat one.

and not the good kinda suck, either.

Cunt

by Inga Muscio. The worst piece of shit I've ever read. I'm embarassed to say I bought the damn book. I think I gave it to a used book store, refused to take anything for it. I'm a feminist and I was so disgusted by the book, I wanted to burn it.

Whenever someone makes a "worst book" thread, American Psycho is guaranteed to be mentioned within the first five posts.

I have a book of Penthouse letters. FUNNY! Only a few are erotic in any way but most are so over the top that you at least get a chuckle out of them.

God yes. One of the worst books ever written.

Know why? Cuz it sucked! :D

You don't have to tell me. At least I was lucky enough to put it down after 100 pages. I couldn't imagine actually finishing it.

Why is that, do you think? Obviously, there are decent writers out there.

I rarely think a book is so bad that I don't finish it. This one was so bad, I didn't even finish a complete sroty. Nothing in there to grab my interest.

What's the worst book I've read lately?

Dreamcatcher- Stephen King (bleah, what a piece of shit)

Oddly enough, the movie wasn't that bad. I actually thought it was kind of funny.

That book seemed like King plagiarizing himself..."lets see, I'll take this part from the Tommyknockers..."

The movie was great, imho. But I enjoyed (the book and film) Less Than Zero much much MUCH better.

I just couldn't take it anymore. I've never been so disgruntled with a book in all my life. I'm not even a King fan. The last Stephen King novel I read was, 'Christine' or 'Pet Semetery' - I'm talking YEARS ago.

Oh no! He's written some good stuff lately. Dreamcatcher isn't one of them. I'd say it was probably the worst one to end your hiatus with.

I love his early work but it has gotten kind of yuk the last couple of years, I have started reading a lot of Dean Koontz and Patricia Cornwell.I'm wearing a little thin on the Koontz stuff though too, also Iris Johannson is pretty good

personally,

pop novels by Grisham and his ilk bore me to tears.

Having run a bookstore, i just got so tired of unboxing that tripe.

Thankfully, we had a deep backlist of stuff that appealed to me-

(and never sold)

Just about everything by Tom Clancy too....

And I hated Widow for a Year by John Irving.. I either love his stuff or absolutely hate it...

Yeah, all that submarine crap and intel trash.

Hemingway makes me a tad nauseous too.

Homophobic animal killer. I wrote numerous papers regarding the exclusive nature of the literary canon in academia-

(and pissed off alot of those Profs who didnt wanna hear it)

Bukowski should be required reading for all English majors :D

yeah but viewing of Mickey Rourke playing Bukowski with all that blood and snott on his face should get them extra credit.

i saw Buk read in an old theatre in SF.

Tender man and exquisite poems.

Barfly was kind of a crap movie, but thats just my opinion.
