So someone sends me feedback by email saying, in part, "can i steal it with a few modifications for a dating site i'm on?" And the answer is no. No, no, no, no, NO! It was sent from an email address, not anonymously, so I composed a very nice reply saying please don't and it bounced. In the email message he also said "feel free to yahoo me @ rvill.rm" so I tried rvill.rm at yahoo dot com. That also bounced. What address do you think he was trying to communicate? He probably won't listen even if I say no, but I'd like to say it for the record.

Why would he think I wouldn't mind? He even used the word steal which is exactly how I feel about it.

Wow. That's a new one. So sorry to hear this. Even having "warning" that your story is going to be stolen is no comfort.

If you do come across the site with your story, let Laurel know and she can contact the site to have them remove it. Best of luck. :rose:

That is a new one! Usually they just go ahead and rip you off without your knowing. I guess you'll just have to Google some lines from your story occasionally to see if it shows up somewhere else.

Hmmm. Could this be deliberate or even automated? Is it possible that someone is trying to assemble a group of stories while pretending that they've been legally acquired? Seems like an odd tactic, but then so does including two nonfunctional email addresses.

Deliberate, maybe. Automatic, no. The email was specific to my story. I don't think it's anything more nefarious than an idiot and the second email address is probably right if I could decode it. I'll wait a couple of weeks and then Google for some phrases, but his intention of modifying it (which pisses me off even further) may complicate that.

I had something of mine reposted once only the loser apparently didn't know how to use cut and paste and so retyped it. Badly. My writing, but without capital letters and full of spelling and punctuation mistakes. Horrible.
