1-0 Henry (57)

Damn, and I changed allegiance. Thanks, Liar. I live in a Portuguese neighborhood, so was not sure if the copious horns honking were for Brazil, or for the fact that the Portuguse know they can beat France - lol.

So I heard all the talk about the great Ricardo and Ronaldo and how tense the game was, so couldn't pass up the replay on ESPN (even though it's the first World Cup action I've watched this time around). All I can say is DAMN!!! That was a brilliantly played game (at least the last 10 minutes of regulation and afterwards). There were so many great opportunities and close calls, it was just amazing. Too bad US doesn't have that kind of team, maybe we'd finally get some interest in the sport here. I'm actually going to watch the rest of the games. I don't need a rooting interest, the action at the end was compelling even with me knowing the final result already.

Why thank you.

Well, I'm afraid they'll need it. Italy thrashed us 1-4 not too long ago. I think they will be tougher than Argentina. We have to score first I think in order to have a chance. But if we get past Italy, boy, there'll be no holding us.

I think in a possible Germany-France/Portugal final the crowd in Berlin as well as all the Germans will create an atmosphere that will carry our team to glory.

Oh, boy, that would be so awesome. An entire country in ecstasy, one big party. I'd never forget it all my life.

Ah, to dream.........

Anyways, Italy will be the final test whether the German squad is up to the challenge.

GO GERMANY !!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks, Jen. :rose:

It was a bitter blow (gutting, in fact :(), but Andrew Murray is doing well at Wimbledon, lol. :D

I'm sad we're out, and the dramatic/intense way it always happens only increases the feeling of disappointment, but hey, we're getting used to it.

Good luck to all who still remain (dunno who to get behind now, cos my second faves were Brazil - poor buggers :().

Are you trying to give me a fit? :p

But, to be honest, we didn't play well, and we were down to ten men, and Portugal still couldn't beat us in normal play. Bless 'em. ;)

I think that France will have the edge, over all who are left... and let's face it, at the end of the day, my loyalties have to sway behind Henry.

Gonna get my Arsenal AV back up now, in his honour.

:p :D

It was not the best game to watch.

I was rooting for England, but...

they played crap.

Maybe next time with a new manager and captain.

Don't think we were ever going to beat a team whose manager we tried to sign before the World Cup started. When it got to penalties, the difference in the two teams was almost laughable, England had lost before they even kicked a penalty. And what was the point in bringing Callagher on? he's only ever taken two penalties in his life!

Well,

you should think that England would at some point start winning penalty-shoot-outs, but they still lose in those. Why? I thought they were practising penalties every time?

Can't understand that.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, there and believe your not trying to be inflammatory.

I think the fact it was Ricardo caused alot of fear in our ranks - there wasn't enough belief -simple as that.

I  my england lads and would snuggle every last one of them if I could. They must be feeling like crap right now.

Well, actually, England got to the point where even I as a German football fan feel some pity for them.

I was routing for Brazil, damn it. Since Zizou and Henry are my favorite non-Brazilian players, I'm now backing the French.
