Yes, go on. Headbutts and trying to injure their opponents. There was plenty of that in this game. How many of them were by Portuguese players?

Well, Figo is Portuguese, isn't he? And they were as brutal as the Dutch. And believe me I really rooted for Portugal since I can't stand the Dutch. But you gotta admit the truth, horrible game.

And you're both mad.

I am not mad ... I just think, Liar was right ... you are biased :). But neither team played fair and in the end Portugal had luck on its side, scoring the one goal they needed. This game could have gone either way ...

It was kind of fun to watch ... but still a little over the top.

What did he do?

Ah, c'mon, this is obsolete, you'll claim it was the Dutch player who gave the head-butt, I'll say Figo should have been allowed an early shower for that.

Anyway. :D

Like i said, this was the game we needed to start playing football. England will be the one having to pay the price. How do you feel about shaving that cross off on Saturday, Lou?

Can France pull it off, or do I need to change allegiences? If they cannot? They are truly not LATIN!

I don't think they're Latin enough to beat Spain :D

As we once discussed - I dont think so either. Do you think their having a pic or calenders like C. Ronaldo does - would help their cause? :D YUM ZIDANE (hey - this is a sex forum!)

It would help our cause. :D I don't know about theirs. They were good in 98 and 2000, but then the old got older and the young got crappy.

And you think it was the best game so far????
Well, the games so far in this round have been pretty lame all over. Mex-Arg was by far the best played ball of the four played. The Por-Ned game could have matched that standard, if it hadn't done all hulaballoo.

England has lots to improve, and Germany was not lousy, but still better in their first three games than the one yesterday. (Which makes our defeat even more embarrassing, Germany can steamroll us on a bad day. :D )

C. Ronaldo has already helped Portugals cause - he "SCORES" more than most I bet, except I still think his penis is weirdly placed in that former photo. :D  (please note the red and green in the smilies ;))

Hahaha. I don't care where he puts it.

Neither. It's football. ;)

Nah. couldn't be. Not even "Aussie Rules" football; the ball was round. :p

With all of the pushing, shoving, body-checking and fighting, it sure looked more like a bunch of hockey players who got lost and could find the ice or their sticks.

Good game yesterday, Lauren

(cough)

It's a shame Portugal will not be able to put out their strongest team or play their aggresive game (too many players on yellow) against England. After their defeat, they will complain about the unfair Russian ref, and how they could have beaten England if the ref hadn't sent player off for silly offenses like 'hand ball - Coutinho' or 'unsporting conduct - Deco'. Figo still might not make the game if FIFA examine video evidence on the head-butt incident. Not entirely leg-pulling Lauren, Holland started the battle, but Portugal finished it and were honestly lucky to win. Figo deserves an oscar for his polaxed elbow stunt - but the ref deserves a spell in Siberia. I hanker for the old days on occassion.

Go kiwis! Or kangaroos. Or whatever the heck you are down there. :D

Figo has been cleared to play for England.

Interesting quote from Scalari (Portuguese coach)
Figo was later involved in more controversy when his tangle with Khalid Boulahrouz led to the Holland defender being dismissed for a second yellow card.

However, Portugal coach Luiz Felipe Scolari defended Figo.

He said: "Jesus said we should turn the other cheek, unfortunately, Figo is not Jesus Christ."

* gasp * :(

Awful game, both sides behaved like spoiled brats.

I've changed sides for Argentina, I think.

I was of course talking about the Dutch team. I have no problems with our neighbours but when it comes to football, I HAVE TO have aversions against them.

Sorry......can't help it......

Portugal really clinched dirtiest team of the World Cup this weekend; and England claimed the 'most boring team on the field' title. I think that, with Portugal reduced to its less dirty players, England will successfully bore them to death. Especially since I just realized I have Portugal in my pool (the kiss of death)!

IN the meantime: GO Ghana!

I don't know, Neon. I don't think that objectively anyone can say any of the red cards were wrong, and the truth is that even without Costinha and Deco, people are more confident in a win now than they ever were before.

I think these Sky Sports guys got it right: "The game was not a dirty affair, as the only time the game threatened to boil over was when the players grew frustrated with the amount of cautions being meted out."

Blatter, the FIFA president, also had some interesting comments: "I consider that today the referee was not at the same level as the participants, the players. There could have been a yellow card for the referee."

By the way, Italy seems to be trying to give England a run for their money on this "most boring team" title. :D
