its been 20 years since AIDS became known to the
public.......and still no cure.

Today, December 1, is known as World AIDS Day.

And in tribute, I urge all to check out and buy
the CD of the remake of "What's Going On" by
Artists Against AIDS Worldwide (its the same CD
that is also in tribute to 9/11).

their website: www.aaaw.org

here is a lyric from the song remake:

"It's a shame our reality is devastating
People praying for a cure
Dying while they're waiting"

Enchanted.....
You're welcome.......I nearly forgot about 12/1 myself...
then I remembered seeing an article in the newpaper
about it....that's when I figured..."hey, post a thread
up here, let's get people to talk". A lot of people
aren't aware about World AIDS Day........wish that it
was more publicized, etc. I hope that more people post
up here today and over the weekend.....esp. since
Lit members stretch across the oceans (i.e. USA, Europe,
Australia, etc.).

Remembering

Thinking today of my first love, Jim.

Also Gary B., Anthony P., David C.

And special wishes for J.C., Michael J. and the many many others who face each day living with AIDS and blessing us all with their love and presence.

Thanks tigerjen.

Jenny......
My heart goes out to you and to those whom you
mention. I don't know anyone who has HIV or
AIDS personally but if did, I know I would give
extra support and love to them.

I see that in your profile that you live in NYC in the
theatre district......reminds me....I saw "Rent" last
summer....excellent show.....in fact, I wore my "Rent"
tshirt today in honor of World AIDS Day (wish that
I had a red ribbon to go with it!). In this day and
age, "five-hundred, twenty-five thousand, six hundred
minutes" is precious time for anyone......

7 years ago a female cousin of mine died at the young age of 30 from Aids. She wasn't a drug user or slept with every guy in town, she was an average person. She arrived home from living in Greece 2 years earlier, this being where they thought she may has got it from being in hospital.

What I want to say to you is this.

Imagine if you had come to my home in that 2 years when she was infected but did not know herself and had meet my cousin, she was a damn good looking woman, what if you had spent a night or weeks with her and had not used a condom........

I could be adding you name here with hers... think about it. Always protect yourself with an unknown history of another person.

It does not just happen to other people, it can happen to YOU.

*stepping down from her soap box now*

good words from T.H. Oughts

<<I could be adding you name here with hers... think about it.

T.H. Oughts......

I agree with what you said......AIDS can happen to anyone,
of any age, race, class, status, young, old, male, female....in
these times, it is very important to protect oneself from disease
while having sexual relations with someone....and esp. if
that one has an unknown history, as you mentioned above.
One can't be too careful today! I know it is scary, but I'd rather
have a lover use condoms and be safe than sorry later on.
