Working for free

What kind of sense are you looking for? The volunteerism sounds like a good idea, and the job market's a bit slushy right now as it is.

In an attempt to break out of this mood, I've volunteered my time at a state senator's office. I still don't having a paying job. Someone please knock some sense into me.

I could think of some much more useful places to volunteer, but nothing wrong with the concept while you look for work. A prospective employer would rather see that on a resume than :

Well give me your address so I can go up there and I will :D

FUCK!

Well, it doesn't sound like you are lacking sense, just opportunities. Have you contacted your school's career office? Have you expanded the types of work you are willing to consider? I almost became a dolphin trainer for Disney before landing my first law firm job before law school.

it looks good on a resume also

could part time waitressing or cashiering, stock girls be availabe, i know they ain't pretty jobs but they pay the bills until something better comes along, and so show prospective employers a willingness to do the job that needs to get done

Damn, I'd have gone for the dolphin job every time. I work with plenty of lawyers. I think the dolphins would be more entertaining, and some of them better conversationalists.

Gee, thanks.

Makes sense to me - so much so that I am thinking of doing it myself on a limited basis.

Too late, Wolfie. You've made your opinion known. I'm lower than a dolphin. ;)

CB, good luck. I'd suggest stopping by the office. I bet many of the offers get snatched up before they're posted, and they might have more tailored leads for you if you go in and talk to them.

Thanks, CB. Nora gave it to me yesterday. I feel downright glamorous wearing it.

Alright CB, move along. Cant you see I'm using your thread to hit on Mischka? And being ignored as usual? :D
