...work this site out!

Can someone please tell me:

Is it possible to see the rating of an individual story written by someone other than onesself, and not on the top-rated list? If so, how?

If I want to add an Author's Note to my story, how do I go about that? Will it mean my story gets taken down while the note is added?

How is an Editor's Pick chosen? How is a Hot story chosen?

And most importantly, where should I be looking to work all this stuff out for myself?

Thanks,

Sarah

Hi Sarah C, sadly I don't have the answers to your questions, other than to say maybe a trawl through the Help/FAQ sections on the Literotica site may help you (I don't know - I haven't looked!).

Failing that, maybe sending a mail to the site organisers via the 'Contact us' link would be the way to go?

Best of luck anyway.

The FAQ will answer the rest of your questions, but these two aren't really covered there.

First, I don't know of any way for anyone other than the author to see the score for an individual storythat has less than 10 votes or scores so low it doesn't make the top rated lists.

Laurel said once that the scores are not shown with the stories to cut down on "bandwagon voting" -- She doesn't want votes infuenced by previous votes.

An Author's Note at Lit is treated as a part of the story text. To add one to your story, you need to follow the instructions for editing or revising your story. Re-Submit your story with the athor's note added using the original title and the word "EDITED"

When the change is made, the old version will be replaced by the new version without any gap in the availability of the story.

I don't understand about the 10 votes thing. Can you explain please?

That makes sense... but what about seeing a rating once you have cast a vote? That could work.

No story with less than 10 votes is elgible for the top-lists. As far as I know, only the author and Laurel can see the score before it has ten votes.

I'm not sure why that doesn't happen, although I suspect that it's a programming decision; recomputing the score for every vote takes more programming than simply recording the vote.

Stories Index

If you search the stories by category, you see the score there.
I don't see them in the NEW category, only in the other categories.
Is this what you were looking for?
You can't see the actual votes unless you are the author, of course.
