Word Chain, again

The point of this game is to use the last two letters of the previous word as the starting two letters of the next word. If you can't make that work, try using the last three letters of the previous word as the start for your next word. Sometimes you can use the last four (or even more!) letters to start the next word. If all else fails, you can use the very last letter of the previous word to start your new word.

Cyclist doesn't work because it uses the beginning letters of the previous word instead of the ending letters.

Unfortunately for all, the rules of the game don't get posted. One must figure them out through trial and error, which there will inevitably be when there are no rules posted.

Ahem.

This is the only word game I still post to, because I got tired of being corrected for posting something that, the rules for it not being posted, I didn't know was invalid.

Please be gentle with our new arrivals. And, hint to the next person that propagates this "game" to another multi-K entry list, please post the rules when you do so.

Thank you.

FWIW, the "rules" I've figured out for this game, those rules having not been posted for at least a year (?) involve using the last 2-3 letters of the previously posted word as the first 2-3 letters of the valid English-language (including cognates) word you will succeed it with. This isn't always possible (hence my previous post where "licks" -> slick")

I personally like to minimize proper nouns (I've used a couple/three, true, months or years ago) and use as many letters in the preceding word as I can at the beginning (and the rest) of my succeeding word. 4-5 letters, cool cool. But that's me. Others may have different prefs. I'm sure there's a rule somewhere about that, but since the rules aren't actually posted, I would not care to speculate beyond that.

In the end, one can always make a word starting with the end of someone else's word, even if one must use just a single letter, like I did with "licks" -> "slick". It's a game. Be kind.
