When M and I got married 10 years ago, I weighed 180 pounds (I'm 5'10").

Then I spent the last 3 years at an EXTREMELY stressful job. I ate lots of "comfort food" to cope, and with 14-hour work days, I never found time to exercise any more. I put my bathroom scale away because I feared to look.

I was laid off from my job in early January.

I decided to go into business for myself. I had to go to the doctor for a routine check-up as a condition of getting my own medical insurance. I had shot up to 210 pounds! UGH!

Over the last 3 months, the stress has melted away and I'm enjoying running my own business. The business is off to a slow start but if we're careful, we do make ends meet each month, and I know business will pick up. I've been eating more sensibly, taking lots of walks and bicycling a lot....and my wife and I are finding time and energy for much more frequent sex again, too! (My FAVORITE way to burn calories!)

I just now dug out the bathroom scale I had hidden away months ago from embarassment, and I weighed myself for the first tme since early January. Woo-hoo...it says 190! I lost 20 pounds in 3 months! 10 more pounds and I'll be back to my weight I was on our wedding day......back when M wanted me not 4 times a week, but 4 times a DAY! (and I had the ENERGY for 4 times a day!)

YES! LIFE....IS.....GOOD!!!!

Wooo----hoooooooo!!!!!!!!!! :nana: :nana: :nana:

I'm in the same boat. Life as a student and free lance writer with a chronic leg injury, I had slowly crept up to 215 pounds. I'm 6'2" so that wasn't terrible, but I have delicate bones so I can't carry the weight as well. Since last fall I've dropped almost 30 pounds. It's been a combination of changed medication, activity and better eating but I'm really digging it. Ending up with an ADD Boxer as a pet probably helped a lot too.

I have a lot more energy, the lower weight actually makes it easier on the old war wound, and I'm feeling more confident without the tummy bulge. I'm enjoying a more active life and sex is a lot better too.

So I can appreciate how you feel! We can exalt together in our new healthy lifestyles! Keep up the good work. :D

That's great!! Congrats to you too! Anything they can do for your leg?

And I will keep up the good work...hope you do, too. Joined a new gym that's opening next month and plan to use it as much as I can....to stay fit and also to network with potential contacts for my new business!

I glad you went and lost the weigh without the little banner saying lost 18, 2 to go. You just went and did it. Top Drawer.

It's always nice when you can find a nice non stressful job. My whole family looses weight when they are stressed even if they do eat more and I'm the only one who puts on the weight.

Congratulations on the weight loss! :)

I never heard of losing weight when stressed and eating MORE! Maybe it's them, not you, who has unusual metabolism?

I told M last night that I'd lost 20 pounds. She said she'd noticed and why did I think she'd been asking for more sex lately? So that was nice to hear!

It was hot last night and we both went to bed naked. She awoke me early this morning and told me "You're irresistible to me right now!" I kind of teased and hinted to get her to say more, and she did finally say those 3 magical words: "I want you!" Oh like I minded hearing THAT from the woman I love!

I didn't lose weight for more sex, but it sure is a great fringe benefit!!!!

Thanks...it does feel good to have achieved this!

I didn't actually have a specific weight-loss goal, I just happened to lose 20 pounds by eating better, exercsing more, and reducing stress in my life.

I'm happy with where I am now (190) but I wouldn't mind losing that other 10 pounds and getting back to the weight (180) I was when I met M 10 years ago. I wouldn't want to go back to where I was in my 20s though, I was the same 5'10" I am now but only 140 (I didn't earn enough income to eat enough to be heavier--I would water down a can of soup and make 2 or 3 meals of it!) and my bones were visible in my arms and chest---definitey don't want to be THERE again!

I have a odd problem that may seem funny or not. I'm 6' 6" tall and I range between 196 and 218 daily. It's not dehydration as the day goes or anything I can figure out. It's just weird. I do eat like a horse and my metabolism just keeps plugging away. Getting closer to your 180 lb goal (even if you don't work at it), will make you feel even better.
