An Open Letter From Dylan Farrow

So imagine your seven-year-old daughter being led into an attic by Woody Allen. Imagine she spends a lifetime stricken with nausea at the mention of his name. Imagine a world that celebrates her tormenter.

Are you imagining that? Now, what’s your favorite Woody Allen movie?

Talk about Woody deserving an Oscar.

Also from ms ann's link:

"For as long as I could remember, my father had been doing things to me that I didn’t like. I didn’t like how often he would take me away from my mom, siblings and friends to be alone with him. I didn’t like it when he would stick his thumb in my mouth. I didn’t like it when I had to get in bed with him under the sheets when he was in his underwear. I didn’t like it when he would place his head in my naked lap and breathe in and breathe out. I would hide under beds or lock myself in the bathroom to avoid these encounters, but he always found me. These things happened so often, so routinely, so skillfully hidden from a mother that would have protected me had she known, that I thought it was normal. I thought this was how fathers doted on their daughters. But what he did to me in the attic felt different. I couldn’t keep the secret anymore."

How very sad.

Well....

Wikipedia said:
...The head doctor of the police-appointed medical team gave sworn testimony that Dylan "either invented the story under the stress of living in a volatile and unhealthy home or that it was planted in her mind by her mother" because of the inconsistent presentation of the story by Dylan...

There is no doubt that Mia Farrow was very pissed about getting replaced by her step-daughter so the indoctrination hypothesis is not entirely implausible. Mia is small in stature, but well known for her determination.

Interesting point. Thanks.

It's still very sad.

I wouldn't jump to any conclusions one way or the other. Neither Woody nor Mia are particularly trustworthy, in my opinion.

For the record, Mia has made these sort of accusations before on a number of occasions, and thorough investigations have found them without merits.

I guess it's a thin line between comedic genius and pedophile. I wonder if anyone has done any research?

What has one got to do with the other? I don't see why anyone should think that recognition for his talent means supporting or defending his... lifestyle.

Hollywood is big on outrage as long as the object isn't one of their own. Then they sit quietly and pretend nothing happened.

The efforts to excuse Roman Polanski showed that pretty clearly.

It was the seventies - a "fuck first, ask questions later" kinda time - and Polanski had a lot of credits on his sympathy account because of the way he lost his wife in 1969. And he had (and still has) the victim on his side.
