1. Beward of trolls (people who have no talent but vote low on people who do)

3. Don't be worried about what you hear on the forums. Most everyone here is usuall kidding and a lot of fun.

7. In case of doubt, ask. Most people are more than willing to answer your question, and sometimes are even helpful.

One friendly word of advice I would offer. The people who are really interested in at least some of the categories are very picky about what they think is good and what is not. If I were you, a new author, I would read a selection of the stories in a category in which I wished to post. If you find that your point of view differs greatly from the stuff you read, you might consider posting in a different category.

What's poofdas?

I believe this is a reference to the Monty Python sketch that takes place at Australia's University of Woollamoollu (not sure of the spelling). In welcoming a new member to the philosophy department, they read off a list of rules, including "No poofters," which would be a slang term for a gay man.

Yes, I was referring to the Monty Python Live at the Hollywood bowl sketch. I was not attempting to be derogatory in any way . . . just silly and geek-like.
