Perhaps it is me but when I go to look at a person's profile, I find more often than not that there is virtually no information on that person. I find that really intriguing for people that are looking to connect with others at Literotica. Then again, I am a "newbie", and what do I know about the terribly intense, vastly complicated, ever so secret, eternally devious, superbly innovative, and completely unknown, internal workings of Literotica!

Fleure :)

The key to someone's information is through the PM system.

It's all in the manual.

Which I can't find.

Hello again! I think people only want to show enough to whet the appetite, then as Recidiva said, engage in PM's (not PMS) ;)

You can find out a lot more about people that way.

What information would you *like* to know about people? Start a thread :)

Ask away my dear, you will find most of us are an open book. That is, if you pry us open properly :)

Some of us have learned the hard way that if too much information is there the real pervs and stalkers take it to their advantage.
Yes, using the pm system is the best way to learn.

Vibes, not sure what you mean? More straight forward in posts than pm's? That would surprise me.

yes, as odd as it may sound, it's exactly what i meant

Hi, I am new here, too, and I see what you mean. Some profiles are not only slim on information but rather cryptic, too. Anyway, if you feel like chatting with me feel free to pm me and I will respond. Enjoy your time here.

I agree. When I look at a profile. I would like to see a little more info, but as some respondents have said, PM is a good way to go. That way people can give as much as they are comfortable with.

Find all posts by user can often give you a good idea about them as well.

 I tell ya Incandesce, you're not making being a creep any easier.

Geez, when people don't post all their information in their profiles, we pervs have to go to all the work of TALKING to people to learn where they live and such!

We have to be cunning, charming, and nice...
 Who ever would want to do THAT?!

Stalkers and Things

I appreciate the stalker thing as I had a rather bad experience with a staker from a chat site about two years ago. My university handled the matter extremely well but it still caused me a worrying two to three weeks at the time. That said, I still believe that you can put some information in a profile that perhaps mentions interests and things so that a person has a little idea about who has sent a private message or responded to a thread. Perhaps I am still being a little naive?

Fleure :)

LOL. This is good.

And thank you for your sarcasm, I needed that.

I like some information, even if it's general or vague.

I may have a bit too much personal info in mine, but it helps to give people an idea if they're interested.

:D Yes... Sarcasm... Hahaha, but of course, I was being sarcastic!
Nothing is amiss! All people should continue going about their business, as nothing is wrong.

Salright Incandesce, humor is what I do.
Poorly.

And for what it's worth, I know how the stalker thing goes.
I had one two years ago...
She stole my clothes when I hung them out to dry, and I swear to all that is sweet and lawful, I saw her outside my window on more than one occassion.

I finally confronted her, and since then the problem has stopped.
She was 12. I shit you not.

I was being stalked by a 12 year old.

I can believe that. I've seen lots of people. And known lots of obsessive types. None who've gone so far as stalking, but close.

About the question I have a few points on my profile. Ilist my city but it's a big city. I imply I go to one of the 7 universities in it. And that I work one of thousands of retail jobs. I give my age I mean really You probably want to know if you want to talk to me. I'm quite open I answer every question seriously. So why not be open in Profile too? I don't think I have anything to fear. Of the average type of prson attracted to someone like me, I'm usually a far faster person, likely have more stamina, or I'm just a better fighter. Assuming that some 6'7" monster with a black belt (Fathom7 scares me just a little) appears I'm likely running, and I do that well. I don't see anything really to fear, I have an ignore button for a reason, and online abuse is what Mods deal with. So really why not just be friendly and open. I thnk you atract like minded people that way.

That said PM's are a wonderful way to find out about people.

Nothing poor about the humor here. Really made me laugh and that isn't always easy.
12 yr old stalker huh? Nice to know you can always find someone out there that has had it worse. lol Mine have been pretty much harmless but a little freaky none the less. I wish you well. ;)

Well shucks. Thanks.
If I can make one person laugh each day, it is a good day indeed.

And I wouldn't say I had a worse stalker than anyone else.
Quite the opposite really.
She was small, merely infatuated, and I got my clothes back.

Now, if I were female, and my stalker was a male, older, and more determined...
I can understand how frightening a stalker can be.

And I would say that here, like almost everything else, moderation is the key.
You give a fair amount of information without revealing too much either.

That is the ideal.
But some people don't get that, and will list their damn address.

I follow a different tack about profiles, because for me they are more about being tempting than informative; it's more of a creative expression than a resume. There is a big gap between secrecy and discretion, and some details really should be shared, but if someone's curiosity is sparked the conversation will flow naturally. There's a huge difference between simple/lazy profiles and simple/elegant/creative ones.

Besides, anyone can exagerate on a profile, but to maintain themselves through a conversation/chat/exchange? I prefer interaction to get to know a person. What do you think?

An interesting approach, to be sure.
But often times, most people will only check your profile AFTER they see your interesting comments.
Still, a good opinion.

Best Advice?

It's already been posted. Read what someone's written in other threads, and then for missing info that you're curious about...PM them. What could I put into a profile that would possibly be of interest to "everyone I could potentially want to talk to?" Right. Wouldn't all fit and of course would appear contradictory...
