Women's porn?

“We call it porna, to give the idea that it’s porn made for women, something different from traditional porno,” said Martijn Broersma, the man behind Dusk.

Set up three years ago, Dusk, with its distinctive chili pepper logo, now shows 24/7 on three Dutch networks including the Netherlands’ two largest cable providers, making it available to 1.2 million viewers.

“Women really like to see explicit content,” Broersma explained. “They want to have proof that it’s really happening, that it’s not fake.”

In other words, women want context, as I've been saying for years!

He plans to expand Dusk in Germany this year and has inquiries from several other countries
. With the erotic TV market being squeezed by the internet, Broersma says cable companies realize they don’t have the luxury to ignore the female half their audience.
Women have become a demographic!

Bell and Broersma have been surprised to discover that men are also tuning in to porna ...

No surprise to me, if 'porna' is half as good as this article says it is. I suspect most men who watch porn put up with what they're given (fake tits and moans and all) for want of anything better. But if they can get porn where 'people are actually having fun' rather than doing it just for money, then I'm pretty sure many men will go for that as much as women are expected to.

Will there finally be a real art of pornography/erotica at last? Wouldn't that be nice!

(And wouldn't it be nice if old-fashioned fake porn became just a small niche fetish?)

Amazing! Who would ever have thought . . . ?

Yeah, it would. Funny, too! :D

ps: it looks like you can order some of those films directly from http://blueartichokefilms.com/ including the headliner Matinee.

The idea of women's porn is indeed interesting. However, it's not new. There was a woman, Candida Royale, who did 'women's porn' in the USA, sometine back. However, there weren't a lot of imitators.

Candida did a number of high quality films but even though they were aimed primarily at a female audience the narrative lacked a little something. What she shone at was depicting couples having sex without constant beaver shots and men withdrawing to cum all over the woman's body. They were slick and I still treasure my copy of Urban Heat, but I think Blue Artichoke is an even higher standard. This company will be interesting to follow.

She's still doing it.

I think if there were a TV channel broadcasting women-centric porn to the US audiences, you would begin to see newcomers to the field.

Women have been creating porn for themselves since the seventies-- in written form. Since the advent of the internet, written material has become better and better-- and more and more hardcore. But it flies under the commercial radar...

there's quite a lot of women's porn already. how is this different?

It's film and it's on television . . . in the Netherlands. Yes, there is a lot of women's porn in print or in cyberbooks but on film it's far less common. I'm looking forward to getting Matinee. And I'm going to follow the company with interest. And as I asked, when will we be able to pick it up on satellite?

Related to this, I just discovered a women's magazine, filament
http://www.filamentmagazine.com/

The blurb says;

The magazine for women who like hot men and intelligent thought

Filament does
articles you actually want to read
men photographed for women
high-quality writing and design

Filament doesn't do
fashion
diets
celebrity gossip

I'm getting a dead link.

I'm getting a dead link.

Try this one: http://filamentmagazine.com/

I've seen numerous F/F films written and produced by women presumably for their consumption as they are quite well done, but the films cited showing M/F plots I'm sure would be welcomed over here...by some folks anyway. Another step towards gender equality. ;)

Oh, absolutely. And there are lesbians who totally like to look at pretty /hunky men!

Got any recommendations? :)

Heck, there are straight men who like to look at, photograph, draw, paint or sculpt pretty/hunky men. My first semester in life drawing was almost all male models. I got pretty decent at drawing them.

cheers, looks like an interesting mag, though the guys are NOT what I'd call alpha male.

I've seen clips from these films...

http://www.bleuproductionsonline.com/

and also I think andrew blake's films are pretty woman friendly

and of course we now have queerporn.tv :)

There's always room for more alpha men-- although presumably, not in the same room. :D

I just looked at his site, and the focus is on the actress, who looks at us with her mouth set in the Official Porn Actress O while the dude doesn't look at us at all, when he isn't simply hidden behind her, being nothing but a provider of a dick going in and out of her pussy. And her pussy is in the foreground at all times.

So, no.

He might not be women-unfriendly, but he doesn't go that extra mile, or even the extra three steps.

yeah, but they didn't ~look~ like alphas. they looked too vain and self absorbed.

by Blake being woman friendly I suppose I meant that it's very subtly visual. there are almost no men in it (I'm wondering if he's changed his style or if you found stuff I didn't) and it is fairly hypnotic... or boring, depends. I find it arousing anyway, like the maria beatty site. you didn't like that? thought that would be up your street along with queerporn.

hah, I didn't even click on that link!

This requires.. study. Before I get back to you with an opinion.

;)
