In Jakarata a man is found guilty of being involved in the bombing of a nightclub in Bali last year which killed hundreds of innocent people, many were tourists. He was sentenced to death, possibly by firing squad.

But now there's a call to commute his sentence to life, for fear that if he is executed, he will be seen as a martyr.

My arse! Kill the fucker, but not by firing squad. Let the families of his victims alone with him for an hour or so. Let the bastard suffer, know the kind of pain he inflicted on others.

Bush is proof positive that anyone with no experience or intellegence can be president as long as he is "connected" with the right people in Washington DC and the Oil Lobby in Dallas.

Let me see. He took a robust economy and destroyed that. Invaded a third world country for no appearant reason using bogus misinformation (where are those WMD?) and involved us in another mess that seems to be turning into andother Viet Nam. Gave the go ahead to ignore 30 years of environmental protection. Tried to shift the blame for ignoring his own Intellegence Community on the British over the Iraq Uranium thing. Lied about being informed about 9/11 a month before it happened (Notice he and his cronies were hiding out in Florida while his press secretary was informing the press he was at Camp David?). And why can't we seem to find Ossama Bin Ladin? He's been seen at ever Shopping Mall opening from Miami to Seattle for over a year now.

Now even Collin Powell (who I haven't much respect for) is abandoning the Bush administration (AP August 4th) supposibly because of "personal reasons". I would guess those reasons are more that he's tired of selling his integrety to the illegal and immoral Bush War Machine than anything else. Hmmm... and an Ex-Army General too. One would think he would be used to that. Makes me think things are worse in the White House than we even know.

The man has no ethics, no intellegence and believes all Americans are just as stupid as those he's gathered around him. Texas is a great state. But Texans historically make lousy presidents (Bush, Bush, Johnson...)

Boo, I am with you on the Marijuana legalization. We have too much proof that it has invaluable worth to the medical community in dealing with chemo patients. Not mention the help that it can be with glaucoma and diabetes, neuropathy of various origins, people with chronic pain, and the list just keeps going.

Not to mention, look at the money to be saved by not tying up the courts and the jails with people who have it for personal use. Do it just like tobacco, package and tax it and sell the hell out of it.. Just imagine the boost to the economy that would be.

While I agree that marijuana should be legalized, I don't use it myself, but understand medical purposes for it. Not to mention the clogged court system of people who are arrested for possessing a roach and nothing gets done to them, so why bother?

Front page of the NY Times on Monday ran a story about Bush changing his focus from killing all the nasty terrorists in the world to getting reelected. Reading the story you find that he was meeting only with the party heads and his Oil Friends from Dallas.

With the economy in the shambles it is, his chances at the polls are poor at best (unless he gets a quick law passed to ban the unemployed from voting, of course).

The Caragy Corp did an unemployment study two weeks ago. The government unemployment figures for June showed a huge improvement. But when you add back those who've fallen off the back end of unemployment, those who have been forced to reduce their jobs to part time to remain employed and those who have given up the real figure is closer to 12%, not the 6.2% Bush is claiming.

Do I seem to remember the last major recession in this country? Who was president then? Wasn't it George senior?

If I may chip in with a little information on a topic that has come up, the legalizing pot idea.

I'm Canadian and as I'm sure the American media has been all too happy to report, those crazy Canadians are trying to decriminalize pot here.

Now this does not mean pot is all out a legal substance.

What they are doing here is simply decriminalizing possession of smaller amounts, and making that a fineable offense as opposed to something you can go to jail for. It's about bloody time if you ask me, and I'm sure I know a few people who would take advantage of this. Certainly not me.

Realistically though, this is legalizing it, in the same way alcohol is legal but you cannot have open alcohol in your vehicle ect.

Fire it up.
