PLOT:
"A story about love, motion sickness and the art of cooking. A strange description but certainly an accurate one. This film is about a beautiful woman who loves to cook but cannot allow others to "control" her, due to her motion sickness. She must always be "on top" of things. After finding her husband cheating on her, she flies off to San Francisco to start anew. An instant cooking star in America, she is eventually tracked down by her wayward husband and asked to love again. Will she? Can she? Should she? Find out..."
Have seen the film before but not from the very beginning as I did today.
Almost but not quite the usual 'chick flick' fare, but I love Brazilian bossa nova, have a large collection and for that reason if not the beauty of the girl, enjoyed watching it again.
The interesting psychological twist of empowered women who can function only when they are in control or 'or top', brought me a chuckle and reminded me of several women on th Lit Forum.
In the film, the poor guy complained that he wasn't permitted to drive or 'be on top' for the entire length of their marriage. Further complained: "But I am still a man!"
Food for thought?
