Hey: at least the progressives get to root for the old, white, Texas males this time...

Vid is just a few paragraphs down the page:

Texas Soldier Arrested for ‘Rudely Displaying’ Weapon

I'm thinking that if it wasn't for the Master Sergeant having a lot saner head on his shoulders than the fascist cop(s)...

...it could've gotten deadly ugly.

Even you should know better, by now, than to take the National Review in any way seriously, and this is no counterexample.

“‘Where you going with that rifle?’ he asked me. I said, ‘does it matter? Am I breaking any laws?’”

 Yes, sir, it matters. It matters a lot. Lawbreaking-at-that-moment or no, it always matters to the police, and quite properly, where you might be going with a rifle.

A concealed carry permit means that the firearm needs to be concealed, not the paper the permit is on.

Thousands of American war veterans are having their firearms forcibly taken from them. Apparently the government believes they are mentally unstable PTSD-stricken loose cannons who are a danger to themselves and others. And thus, they are not competent enough to possess weapons.

Hull was among those who encouraged Oklahoma legislators to pass a law last year that lets those who are licensed to have concealed handguns openly carry their firearms.

And he began openly carrying his when the law took effect Nov. 1.

Now he and other neighbors to the north say it's Texas' turn.

"The entire country is shocked that Texans can't open-carry," said Hull, 44, a general manager of a wrecker service. "It doesn't fit the culture."

At a time when gun control has become part of the national conversation -- and gun stores are trying to keep up with the demand for ammunition, magazines and guns -- Rep. George Lavender has filed a bill to change the way guns are carried in Texas.

Lavender proposes letting Texans with concealed handgun licenses openly carry their firearms, as gun owners in states ranging from Oklahoma to Minnesota already do.

"Texas is one of only a handful of states that does not allow some form of open carry despite being one of the most pro-Second Amendment states in the country," said Lavender, R-Texarkana.

I realize you've never gotten a handle on the whole automatic vs. semi-automatic thing, playdeau, but surely you aren't as dumbfounded between a rifle and a handgun...

...or are you?

So...

...the Master Sergeant has a concealed carry permit and he was carrying his .45 concealed and, thusly, has not been charged with any crime in that regard because he wasn't committing one.

Or, are you going to keep grasping to your irrelevancy as if it ever had any point to it?

Now...

...tell us all you can Google about carrying a rifle openly in the state of Texas, and then please tell us what the Master Sergeant was actually charged with (hint just for you: it's in the link's title).

Yes it is legal to carry a rifle openly in texas. You can not carry a pistol openly, such as on your hip.

However if a cop asks you where you're going with a rifle, you probably have to let them know. Rifles plus clock towers and all.

It is not advisable to ask a cop if he knows the law, as they don't fucking care about the law, only about their authority over your dumb ass.

:D

Easy, it's a Very Bad Thing, under any conceivable system of law or of nonlaw, Googling needless.

That's a nice opinion...but it doesn't change the fact that the dick cop was harassing someone for no fucking reason.

NEGATIVE....it's none of their fucking business, you don't have to tell any cop a mother fucking thing. You don't owe cops anything except your ID or w/e paperwork/licencing that says your good to do whatever it is you are doing.

There is nothing I love more than the delicious tears of gun nuts.

Tasty.

Who's crying? Those cops are the ones who are getting nailed to the wall for this....unlawful arrest is not something PD's take lightly.

Gun Nut :1

Pigs: shit detail/demotion/suspension maybe even fired. It's right up there with illegal search and seizure....yea....grande deep shit...the red hot chili cook off kind too.

Okay, class...

...settle down now.

I realize the weaklings among us always go subjective, so here are the facts of the video:

The Master Sergeant was arrested on the spot for one - and only one - reason:

"Rudely Displaying" his rifle.

Now...

...there is no such language in Texas law covering the legal open carrying of a rifle, so I assume the cop(s) actually meant in an alarming, threatening manner which, I believe, does empower the police to stop, detain, and arrest one guilty of that violation.

So, the objective question for the class to discuss is:

Is there any evidence that the Master Sergeant either "rudely displayed" his rifle in the first officer's presence, or is there any evidence that the Master Sergeant presented an "alarming, threatening manner" with his rifle to the first officer...

...I mean, besides that first officer stating as his reason that the Master Sergeant just legally carrying his rifle in the open was "threatening" enough to him?

Keep focused, class...
