I have holidays booked in March. Just me, the pup and a cabin up north.

So, where is YOUR ideal holiday setting?

Ideally? Somewhere warm. Somewhere sunny. Somewhere in the Atlantic.

two words, one action

*wrinkles nose*

Tofino, BC.

Beaches, fishing, crab fishing, an incredible artist's haven, and wonderful, powerful weather.

*sigh*

I was in Italy during the holidays last year ('01)

that was excellent.

I must be getting tired because I don't understand.

what part were you in?

I went on something of a tour when I was there:

Milan, Turin, Rome, Padua, Florence, Monticatini, and Venice

It means I'm a snow bunny, not a beach bunny.

Aaah. Snow and cold have it's advantages...like cuddling and being close. Beach is more of a fling thing I guess. It all depends on who you are with. I personally wouldn't mind either one. I just like hot weather better than cold. ;)

I don't have an ideal setting, just an ideal attitude. I am equally happy in a cabin in the mountains as I am on a beach in the Carribean, or overlooking the Serengeti from Mt Kilimanjaro, or exploring the ruins at Delphi.

Give me comfortable shelter, comfortable people with whom to share it, good food, good wine, and anyplace that's not home, with home's responsibilities.

I'm in heaven.

and I'm jealous!

My ideal holiday is to lose myself as just another animal in a concrete jungle. I have a thing for exploring the nooks and crannies of a city.

Ugh...sweat, sand, smelly tourists....*shudders*

Unless it's a private beach and I'm shaded by palm trees and you've strung up a hammock for us, I'll keep the snowshoes.

Very different.

Yup. I'm just not nature-girl. I get itchy if I see too much wildlife that's not artfully arranged in a zoo. Even then I require periodic trips to the gift shop...

Look on the bright side. Sweat, sand, and smelly tourists.
I mean...less or no clothing and don't have to worry about frost bite. Can go swimming and get wet. Lay down on the beach with someone. Or a nice hammock like you said. Just nice and relaxing.

To thine own self be true.

At least you're well aware of WHO you are and not putting on a facade for anyone elses bennift - it's what I've always liked about you, Nora.

Or better yet, soak in a hot bath with a scotch and cigar while playing "find the soap" amid a mountain of bubbles and soft soapy skin, while the weather outside is doing it's best to obliterate any trace of human existence.

Jinkies! What an incredibly nice thing to say! I can't really take credit. I had inspiration once-upon-a-time from an unlikely source...an interview in Harper's Bazaar.

Harper's Bazaar: "If you could sum up the secret of your success, what would it be?"

Miss Piggy: "Be yourself. If you try to be someone else, it gets so confusing, and it makes life so difficult for the post office and deliverymen." "

My grandparents own this cabin that is near Invermere BC.. Right in the middle of the rockies and right in the middle of nowhere. Radium Hot Springs is about a 30 minute drive from there.. And of course there isn't much of a backyard to this cabin, but there is a path that takes you on a 25 minute walk to a small creek.

It's the perfect "get-away-from-every-damn-thing-and-one" house. If I had a SO of some sort it would be a perfect way to spend two weeks.

As it is, a week there with me, some DVD's and games and a few good books sounds like a great idea.

And I think you should!

It doesn't matter where it comes from, providing you've attached a little piece of yourself to it.
