It's coming up to a year since my ex-wife and I went our own ways and I find myself strangely and deeply depressed.

Don't get me wrong. We are still OK as friends, i see as much of my lovely kids as they want and my life has moved on.

So why do I feel so bad?

Haldir, it's all normal. You'll feel better, I promise (I know this from experience). Losing a marriage, love, hope, whatever, is a loss that requires grief. Don't fight it, no matter the pain. You've still got your family, just not in the same place as before. You are loved I am certain. It's been over ten years since my ex and I broke up. And I still miss pieces of it sometimes. Most especially having someone soft and warm snuggled up next to me when I wake up.

But, I want it and like it, I don't need it.

It's really nice to be loved, one of the most wonderful feelings in the world. But it's not necessary for me to be content with my life.
