I'm sure this will break down into another argument thread, but I love watching the Olympics and loved the Opening Ceremonies so much yesterday. The best example of global cooperation imo.

My sports that I'm watching already:
Currently - Women's solo Luge training
Upcoming- Curling (guilty pleasure) - US mixed doubles is absolutely kicking ass
Big Air snowboard - dudes are insane
Speed skating - I could watch this all day
Any fast downhill skiing - How can Lindsey Vonn ski with a torn ACL? Seriously....boggles my mind.

Second discussion topic - being from the US, we see the US feed. Do other countries also see the US feed with some additional content or do you get your own feed?

Other countries get their own coverage. It'll be the same cameras (probably) but it the US isn't assured a medal it's as if the sport doesn't exist on US TV.

That doesn't suit other countries that are in with a shout.

Interestingly, the Olympics Broadcasting Service provides feeds to all nations including the US.

Olympic Broadcasting Services S.L. (OBS) is limited liability company which was established by the International Olympic Committee(IOC) in 2001 in order to serve as the Host Broadcaster organisation for all Olympic Games, Paralympic Games, Winter Olympic Games, Winter Paralympic Games, Youth Olympic Games and Winter Youth Olympic Games, maintaining the standards of Olympic broadcasting between each edition.[1]

Info about their Paris 2024 coverage:

In total, OBS produced more than 11,000 hours of coverage, including around 3,500 hours of live sports competition and ceremonies.[55][56] This represents nearly double the number of hours produced only 12 years ago for London 2012. OBS also produced more overall content than ever before to date, including more athlete-centric coverage, including enhanced behind-the-scenes, interviews with coaches and athletes as well as pre/post-competition content.[57]

It’s good that each nation can tailor its own coverage from a vast community feed, instead of every nation setting up its own cameras.

So does NBC provide the video feeds to the other nations?

I'd love to watch another country's feed sometime.

The description I read sounds like OBS is the only one with cameras covering the events. NBC gets its video from them, just like all the other nations.

NBC does its own commentary of the video, of course.

If you have a VPN, you might be able to pretend you’re in another nation and be able to find their Olympic coverage somewhere.

I think I'd need to pay for the feed in the other country as well as the one on peacock, so not sure I'd want that.

Why was that beady eyed couch defiler and his pathetic wife even there? He hates Europe.

The gutter dwelling maggots deserve the boos but also the lazy pork rinds munchers who didn't bother to vote deserve every bit of it.

Drone tech has upped the viewing in a pretty great way.
I'm watching the luge - they have the drone at the top section - is that on a line or is that just set to repeat the same trek via GPS or something?

I travel a lot, for work, and it was interesting to see the local broadcasts during the Paris Olympics.

Bit of a different way to experience the games. I, too, am from the US, so up to that point, I'd only seen the US feeds.

That is a good perspective I was really seeking. I'm assuming French hosts and focus on French athletes?

They did. And the British concentrated on the British athletes. I didn't understand the Brazilian hosts, but I don't speak much Portuguese

Foreign commentators seemed a bit more genuinely excited for dramatic wins by athletes , that weren't their countrymen, than US commentators do.

Just an observation though.

Thanks for the perspective.
