Winter Holiday Support Thread

Worn Out Welcome

You know, the "Ignore" function is a very useful tool. I never realized how great it is until I recently used it.

When, you ask? Now, on our new pal Scouries, who since showing up on our doorstep has done nothing but shit on it (as well as us), talking out of his ass and throwing out unfounded accusations concerning AH's role in the contest and just being a world-class asshole in general.

I'm not going to sit around and take it anymore. The contest is over, asshole. You've outstayed your welcome (which was very brief indeed since you began spewing your poison from that rectum you call a mind), you're not wanted here and no one takes you seriously.

Get a life, and get the fuck out of ours.

*adds Scouries to Ignore list*

I suggest that everyone else do the same, but who am I to tell you how to handle this... person?

Bye bye, fucker. Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out. :D

Congratulations all! My 12th contest ... about time huh? :D

entitled? I like your idea, it would be fun and interesting to try to guess writing styles. :)

Congrats, Cookiejar.

We had a go at guessing writing styles a while back here in the Hangout. Not a great deal of success, if I remember rightly. I changed my genre but not my style, and was flattered to be mistaken for Colly! In those cases, we were aware who had submitted a piece, but the list of authors was 'seeded' with red herrings, too.

It could be interesting to see the result of a contest with all entries anonymous - and kept that way until the end, on peril of exclusion for revealing IDs.

Congratulations Danielle!!

Congratulations Danielle...

In my opinion the best writer at Lit won the contest...I only hope to someday be able to write in the same class as she does...

Wow! I did finally lose some votes (like seven) and it raised my score a whole .1! I ended up with a 4.77 and 157 votes, which I can be pretty happy with, I think.

4.75 with 195 votes.

.01 away from my highest score and my most votes on a story by a large amount and my largest amount of comments.

I am content.

'Gift-wrapped' went from 4.60/62 to 4.70/60, 'Pussy Palace' (!) from 4.59/155 to 4.68/149, and 'Unwrapping presents is fun' from 4.76/201 to 4.80/164 (37 votes cut!). Healthy total of PCs, too. Not my best score ever, but I too am content, or as content as a non-winner can be

Alex

I wonder if one of the ones that posted a relatively comprehensive talley sheet for the top entries at Halloween is going to do it this contest. They did a really good job.
I would start one but with dail up it takes so long I would be doing until day after tomorrow. The few I have looked up took forever. Pages load too slow.

Congratulations ot all entries again. There were a huge number of excellant stories.

Ahhh shit, he had to bring that up now didn't he. Wait, making money from porn, does that make me a slut?

It wouldn't make you a slut. It might make you a :) whore :) . Concratulations, Dani. The winner is one I did not read but I thought very highly of your other story, the one I did read. :D

Aurora,

Stop pussy-footing around. Just let it all hang out. Tell it like it is, lady. (Are you sure you weren't a USMC drill sargeant, maybe in a previous life?)

Congratulations to all the winners!

I don't know if Laurel and Manu got the quantity they hoped for with the big prize money. But with the winners, they got more than their money's worth quality-wise.

Now for the real excitement. Who claimed last place? That final sweep blew my contender, "Exchanging Presents" out of the water, raising it's score from something like 4.25 to around 4.70.

With more than a little pornful pride, I can report that "Xmas Xcess" my smut smorgasbord, ended up with 92 votes and a score of 4.80.

Thanks Box...It was at a 4.80 when I got up this morning and I checked my new story and flashed by Endless and had to scroll back, it was up to 4.93. I about kicked when I saw it.

Congratulations to all the winners and everyone who put forth effort, they were all fantastic entries.

Congratulations and now...

Congratulations to the winners of another hard fought contest.

And now:

The AH Last Place Contest awaits declarations.

My story, which is not eligible for the Last Place Contest because I am de judge, was rated at 4.78 with 32 votes and 5155 views.

All you have to do to enter the Last Place contest is to declare your current rating, number of votes and number of views. Anyone with less than 25 votes has a good chance of being declared the winner of the Last Place because of the fiendish Og formula.

So admit your disasters, roll our those stories that didn't shake off the trolls and join in the AH roll call of ignominy...

Just so I can have at least a temporary taste of the distinct dishonor:

Exchanging Presents - score 4.68 - votes 41

Hello

I just wrote a lengthy and embarrasing post on English Lady's Congratulations thread that I should have put here as well, but I'm too ignorant to figure out how.

It's quite nice and mentions a lot of you wonderful people in it as well, so c'mon over....

If you don't, thank you for an honor that at least a dozen people deserved more than I did. :)

Wait.... here tis'!

Absurd!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I spent much of last Saturday reading some of the contest entries. I started out pretty smug that my "Norman the Cat" was a worthy contender for honors, and that feeling soon evaporated.

Every story I read, I got more and more discouraged. What beautiful work was entered in this contest, and how ludicrous it is that somehow Norman ended up ahead of all but one of them. Norman was certainly no better, just luckier.

Not only the stories that were also selected (and I had the pleasure of reading and agreeing with the community on daniellekitten, cookiejar and aurorablack' s contributions), but also the stories that did not win prizes, but were so more deserving than mine.

Rhys' Pyotr Iliych was a masterpiece, and I'm sure it was only as a result of the haters out there that it didn't get honors. Cloudy, sack, selenakittyn, RRichard, hugosam, AlexdeKok, vella, impressive and Rumple created work that was certainly deserving as well, and I know I forgot some others (sorry, you know who you are).

As for oggbashan, Colleen Thomas and dr. mabeuse, whom I consider my literotica writing heroes, any list that has anything of mine above them is suspect at best. Doc's grocery lists have more literary value than anything I have yet cranked out. Norman the Cat has the word 'wonderfulful' in it, for crying out loud!

Before I go into Sally Field hyper-drive, let me wrap this up by thanking everyone who played, and played the game fairly, without whom I would not be writing this. It's easy to be honorable around honorable people, and I think that the AH fits that description.

The "W" I'll keep and treasure. The money I think I'll spread around a little, in the spirit of the holiday season. Cloudy's Pine Ridge Propane, the Electronic Frontier Foundation as well as the Salvation Army, who many years ago handed this agnostic a donut and a cup of coffee out of the back of a truck at the lowest time of my life that I'll always remember, come to mind first.

Happy holidays to one and all!

HEY! It worked! :D :D :D

WOW! A holiday story with a real cute kitty in it! Don't worry, no kitties were harmed writing "Norman the Cat"

Congratulations to all the winners, and to the also-rans as well.

The contest seemed to start out a little slow (Halloween hangover?) but picked up speed and soon there were some really excellent stories out there. You winners had a tough field to beat.

Congratulations again, and a very merry Christmas.

I thought Star of David was gonna be a contender for last place... it was down to 4.50 and falling before the sweep but now it's back up to 4.74 (with 35 votes and 2154 views).

Advent Calendar ended up with a 4.73, 4683 views and 37 votes.

Christmas Stalking (swallowing past that sour grape taste *ugh*) ended up at 4.84 with 108 votes and 16364 views...

Selena, your Christmas Stalking was one of the best pieces of fiction that I've read on this site. It had it all, love and terror, sadness, despair, happiness at the end. I was so impressed with your writing, it made me strive to do better with mine. So I guess I owe this W to you. Thank you.

I liked all the stories that won....

and was impressed that so many other stories ended up above 4.70. This is the best I have done in a contest overall. Finding Nonny at 4.84, A Walk To The Paradise Garden and Searching for Christmas at 4.77, Reborn at 4.67 and the Worst Christmas Story Ever at 4.45. There were a few other stories that didn't win that I thought were truly outstanding. For example:

Gender Issues- Dr. Mabeuse- Very hot sex and so ridiculously well written. Only a few people in the world can write like this.

Pyotyr llyich- Rhys- So elegant and perfect! You wonder if people voted this down because of the category!

Seraphon and Theorem (spelled wrong!)- Abstruse
Probably one of the most creative stories in the contest, and represented a departure for this author.

Christmas Stalking- Selenakittyn

An amazing story, well worth exploring if you haven't yet. Author is astonishingly gifted.

And Roxanne Appleby as well as English Lady's stories were exceptional and probably would have made the top 10, if there was one!

Congrats to winners and "losers" (it's just all relative!) alike!

Doc's Snow and the River (especially part II) touched a special place in my heart...

and I really thought Colleen's romp with Ms. Claus was also very well-deserving!
