Naughty things seem to transpire when I'm off in the 'real' world!

Hey all - interesting (if moist) set of posts since I last dropped by

How about that grey Winnipeg day today? I spent most of it on a farm south of the city, out walking in the rain/really-intense-fog. I guess, after the fantastic day Saturday was, a cooler, wetter day was due. Fine with me.

Hey, it is also nice to get the support for getting rid of my 'virgin' status !

Did anybody here ever go to the Rogues Gallery on Assiniboine? I used to LOVE that freakin' place - best spicy chicken nachos EVER! I just thought I'd rant about it, since it has been closed for a few months, and the place up for lease

...grumble...anyway, if anybody else has happy memories about the place (such as the cool art in the place - for those who don't know, it was part restaurant/part art gallery), feel free to share them here...

Back to that Winnipeg Theme....

*sigh* One nice thing about this spring has been, with the late winter and slow melt, the riverwalk was usable much, much earlier than normal. Unfortunately, with the rain lately, they were reporting on the news that it may be a week until it (and the low part around the Forks) are clear of water. Ah, well, it has been nice to get out there early.

For those of you not familiar with it, the riverwalk is basically a low walkway along the bank of the Assiniboine River, from the Osborne bridge to the Forks (although it is being extended, and with the new Provencher Pedestrian bridge being built, I guess that means it will technically cross the Red River as well - I think. I'm not sure if the riverwalk will directly connect with the bridge), and it is a great place on a sunny day to go for a stroll. Especially if you end up at the Forks (for a Chicken Roti at Bindy's Carribean Delight - my personal favourite stop in the whole place). One of my favourite things to do (on the days when I don't start work until the evening - I work a swing shift) is to take that riverwalk down and go to the Espresso Junction in the Forks (in the Johnson Terminal, exactly) and grab a cappuchino or something. Mmmm......

Mmmmm....Stewart's Ginger Beer.....

Well, last year, the Taste of Manitoba (held in the park across Broadway from the Legislative Building) was about July 18, so I imagine it will be about the same this year.
It's pretty good.

Actually, I just looked it up, and that Portage avenue street festival was about July 13 last year, so I'm hoping it will be on again this year!
