I observed a thread somewhere else. I did not notice any of the familiar names there which I find here. There was an unfamiliar tone, too which seemed to be ultimately targetting artists. They hadn't gotten to it yet, but the march toward taking support from the arts if they were going to promote the dirty stuff seemed on the horizon. I wanted you all who hang out here to be given a heads up to go take a look... maybe participate, so I started a thread to provide that heads up. There might have been a dialogue. But my thread was put where you all-- HomerPindar,Syndra Lynn, jthserra,annaswirls,echoes_s, liar,Boo Merengue, etc.-- probably won't see it. If I posted my message in an inappropriate place, I could see why I might be told that it has to go elsewhere or not be posted. I don't think a moderator should decide where it is to go. At least, the thread starter ought to have the option to kill it if it cannot be posted where it was intended.

It's been a really fun and educational month, and I thank you all for your fascinating, free thinking time that made me feel young again for a minute.

Windy blows out...

Are you really going to leave because one thread was moved?

If so, good luck to you in all your endeavors. :rose:

Well, dzang. Not you've gotten me curious. Any chance for a link to where that thread is now?

Other than that, what Mindy said. It could be just a mistake from a mod. Just PM them and ask why it was moved, they are all nice people.

If you're really signing off, here's a  for the road.

If this is concerning the homeschooling thread:

A moderator does have a right to move a thread, and you (the thread starter) cannot delete your thread. Even I cannot delete a thread like yours. Of course, there is no reason to. And rarely have I seen a thread that needs to be moved, but this one did strike me as needing to be on General Board.

I did PM you about the move. Your thread did not appear to have anything to do with poetry, but that was not the real reason for the move, since we all start threads that are not the most poetic. You were upset (is upset a fair word to use?) about why you thought people were doing homeschooling. The homeschool thread started on GB and you started a thread here on the poetry board (let's start a posse) about it, which lead other regulars on GB to come here and basically tell you off.

Since it was so far off the topic of poetry and since it was about a GB homeschooling thread, I felt it belonged there.

Moving a thread is simply a way to place it where it hopefully belongs. Not to keep people here from reading it. All you have to do is put a link in your sig line or post so others can see the thread. The thread is still active, just in GB. There is nothing wrong with your thread, WC, it's just moved is all.

Anyway, Please start another thread about arts here on the poetry thread. I did not see anything like that mentioned in the original. The thread you mention now sounds interesting. So, please give it a try here and I promise to not to even nudge it.

Let me see if I've got this right. Off topic threads get moved. Attracting GB regulars is not a good thing.

Sorry but I have to politely disagree on both counts.

This is a community of poets. I don't think we have to limit ourselves to mere poetry. I am thinking of randy ted, lavalamps and other diversions from the purely poetic.

Regarding GB regulars, perhaps a case in point was when the illustrious desade graced us with his presence several months ago. It is true that the "food fight" that followed got a little outta hand and might have benefitted from a dash of moderation, but it spawned a poetry challenge and IMHO some rather fine poetry. I agree that, more often than not, the GB mentality is annoying, but even annoyance is a source of Art and sometimes even fun.

I just lurk around here popping in with nonsense every once in a while, so my two cents probably aren't worth much, but I'll throw them in anyway. In this particular case, I think moving the thread was probably the correct move. It started with what appeared to be a misunderstanding and it grew confrontational, extremely so, very quickly.

Please, let's form a posse!

I think most of the time threads should be left alone. Of course, an amateur pic thread would need to be moved from here. Unfortunately, you can't read WC's original post since he/she deleted it. It was aimed at a GB thread and had nothing to do with art. I have no idea what WC is talking about now unless he/she had another thread. Anyway, I felt a thread that has a direct problem with a thread on GB belonged there. At first, I thought WC had mistakenly posted it here, since it made no sense to be in this forum. Anyway, simply go there and read it for yourselves. It's called Please, let's form a posse, and it may be on page 2 by now. And WC, if you'd like, please send my two PMs to Laurel and any complaints you may have and I'm sure she'll take care of it.

Ah, dmaas:

No, we don't. But I felt this was a bit different. Like I said, WC's original post is gone. It disappeared the way many things do.

I happened to read a piece of that thread BEFORE it got moved and I think Windy (an exceptionally talented poet) is upset at the way she was attacked by some of the general board folk. The attacks were personal, spiteful, vindictive, uncalled for and rude down to the count of suggesting her mother should have aborted her.

Free speech being sacred, I can see her reason for turning away. I hope she will reconsider, as we in the poetry forum love and respect her.

Either way, Windy, I send Bright Blessings to you.

Syn

:) Windy, I hope you wouldn't let a few assholes from GB chase you away. Most people tend to ignore them and let them sit in their own stink. I'm not really a regular here, being mostly an author and hanging out on AH but I write an occasional poem so I come here sometimes too. I'm always pissing people off, probably I just pissed off some guys from GB, but I never let it bother me.
