hello all , just me DB, looking for some info, Innocent has some computer issues, and we got a win xp home edition cd from a friend, but we need a code to finish installing the program, and our friend cant find thebook to it, after just using it her self, does anyone have one that we can try to use etc? please lemme know

When we lost ours we called the 1-800 number and gave them a shitload of info, but got our code. You could try that...

I don't remember the details, but I'm pretty sure you can't install the software on more than one machine.

try words like 'crack' or 'serial' in the search. I found a bunch of hits.

I didn't think once XP was registered to one computer.. it could be used by another.

I think technically you are able to under certain circumstances, if you own both computers. I'm not sure though.

And while it iswrong, there are ways to get around it.

I remember an article complaining that Microsoft had done something to even prevent you from installing it on more than one of your own machines.

I'm not sure I'd be asking how to crack it on a public board.

According to CNET........

Despite its many annoyances, XP is a worthwhile upgrade. And unless you need corporate administration tools, XP Home Edition should suffice for most--even for small businesses.

The good: Streamlined interface; better performance on many systems; easier and more capable networking; integrated CD-R/RW playback and burn features; Pro version's Remote Assistance tool aids troubleshooting and control of remote PCs.

The bad: You can install XP on only one machine; piddling discounts for additional PC licenses; nags you to sign up for Passport Web account; Home Edition's multiple-user login screens are often redundant; heavy system requirements.

I didn't know that. I do know it's possible to uh.. incorrectly do it with XP home. I watched someone do it.

My XP is legal. I hate it. I want 98 back, damnit.

Yeah. There are public boards on the net dedicated to the topic, you're probably honestly better off looking for one of those.

Hmmm. I have lately bought windows 98SE full OEM version off the net for a total of $106.00 US.

I noticed you could get licenses for around $55.00 if you have a disk. I think it was http://www.DirectDeals.com/

I would go legal if at all possible because sooner or later microsoft is going to get around to the little guy. They have a large data base.

I've never run into the prolbem of not being able to us XP on more than one machine. I've used the same copy about 6 times now on different machines. havent had a problem with any of them

I've got the key to MS office xp version. Probably not what you're looking for but if it might help I can post it

I KNEW I was right to stick with 98. I just wish I could get rid of MSN Explorer.
