Will the Truth about Matt Gaetz Finally Come Out?

matt gaetz gets a political opponent at the last minute; i see wheels in motion to reduce the stain of him and mtg before the big election in November, as the republican party's recognising the damage they're inflicting on the party's image

Aaron Dimmock filed to run as a Republican in Gaetzā€™s district last Friday, the qualifying deadline for federal and judicial candidates in the Sunshine State. Dimmock is the only Republican challenger against Gaetz this election cycle and will face off with the incumbent in Floridaā€™s Aug. 20 primary. He is a former naval aviator, the Pensacola News Journal reported, and appears to have recently served as the director of the Missouri Leadership Academy in Missouri, according to his apparent LinkedIn profile.

But does Dimmock actually live in Florida? So many Republican candidates of late actually live in a different state from the one they are running in.

i couldn't say for sure, but found this:
Dimmock, who is the only Republican to challenge Gaetz in the state's August 20 primary, shares a treasurer with McCarthy-aligned American Patriots PAC.

Dimmock's LinkedIn page shows that he recently served as the director of the Missouri Leadership Academy in Missouri. Dimmock is currently the director for leadership programs at the University of West Florida's Aylstock, Witkin, Kreis & Overholtz Center for Leadership.
gaetz is keen to capitalise on the Missouri label, though, calling Dimmock 'Missouri based'

MO is as MAGAt as FL, if not moreso.
Only in our rural areas. Most of KC and St. Louis are blue. Unfortunately, the far right has come to dominate our politics and policy over the past few years. Sometimes, it seems that we're racing Texas, Florida, Arizona, Arkansas, and a few others for the Worst State in the Nation title. But I have never seen a MAGA hat in Kansas City, and only a few Trump yard signs over the past couple of elections. And I've only talked to one diehard Trumpist, he's also a conspiracy theorist and drug addict, so...

House Ethics committee announce investigation into allegations against gaetz are ongoing.
the allegations are that he:

"engaged in sexual misconduct and illicit drug use, accepted improper gifts, dispensed special privileges and favors to individuals with whom he had a personal relationship, and sought to obstruct government investigations"

The Committee's statement also notes that it has interviewed more than one dozen witnesses and has sent out more than 25 subpoenas as part of its investigation, and that Gaetz has made it difficult to obtain certain information.

The Committee notes that its investigation to date has noted that there are allegations that merit continued review and investigation.

how much of this is to keep gaetz on a leash before the election and how much is a serious review of the things he's accused of is another matter; i can only hope that with a 50/50 R/D makeup, the Committee is doing its job thoroughly.

I never liked Matt Gaetz. He seems like a Matt Damon wannabe. He's also the worst kind of sycophant. He's the sort that is making shutdowns more common, too. If anything is likely to guarantee a Democratic victory, it's another fucking shutdown. I've been accused of making "both sides" arguments, but only if I think that both sides are to blame in some way. Not on government shutdowns. It's pretty much always that the Republican leaders, for all of their faults, try to reach a compromise that nobody likes, but must stomach in order to govern, and then some reckless idiots on the Republican fringe shoot it down. As bad as the Democratic wingnuts can be at times, they never do that crap. They are never that reckless to the point of refusing to actually get anything done. When you have to govern, well, you sometimes have to compromise in order for government to function.

So, no "both sides" arguments have any merit here. On government shutdowns, it's always the GOP. They like to complain about "why are we always blamed for the shutdowns." Oh, I don't know, Matt, Marjorie, Lauren, maybe because every time a deal is close to making the government continue to function, you tend to shut down the government. Looking at you, too, Ted Cruz. It's always the GOP in these cases. The pattern is undeniable. The facts are clear. Republican wing-nuts are always the ones who force the shutdown, and even if the Republican leaders manage to squeeze a deal through, they are forced out in the next caucus in retaliation for attempting to govern (John Boehner, Kevin McCarthy). People's lives are affected by government shutdowns. I know of at least one friend who was forced on furlough while working as a civilian employee at an Air Force commissary, thanks to the shutdown there.

I digress, but yeah, that's the sort of thing that really, really makes me despise Matt Gaetz, Ted Cruz, Lauren Boebert, and Marjorie Taylor Greene. So, yeah, no love for that guy. He can piss off.

Oh, that definitely helps explain why former Speaker John Boehner, no RINO, let alone a flaming liberal, once called Ted Cruz, "Lucifer in the flesh." Though maybe Old Scratch should feel insulted at the comparison.

Incidentally, I have a theory that part of Gaetz's motivation for things is this: he knows that he could never rise above the House. He has no future outside of the House. He's not the sort that people like enough to elect statewide, let alone nationwide. He's the sort that should be content to keep his seat in the House. He's not even the sort that would be trusted with higher posts in the leadership. Nobody likes this guy, other than enough people in his own district to keep him re-elected (and if there were less gerrymandering, he wouldn't even keep that). So, this is his Andy Warhol, "fifteen minutes of fame" kind of moment. That's literally it. He gets a camera in his face and feels famous and important, the most exposure that he'll ever get. Just my take.

Iā€™m sure that heā€™ll weasel his way out of thisā€¦or heā€™ll be labeled ā€œshort eyesā€ in prison and then he can have aaaaall the sex he wantsā€”whether he consents or not. šŸ˜‚

What we have now is severely malfunctioning, regardless of his role in it. He doesn't seem smart enough to play a long game, but his objections now could give him credibility later when the malfunction becomes default, hyperinflation, or pick your favorite holy shit scenario.

That is fair.

Matt Gaetz is here in Houston today, he's a co-headliner at a Texas Youth rally. Fertile ground for him to sow his seed of hatred (among other seeds).

Boebert and Trump Jr. are the other headliners.

Every single failed or failing MAGA politician are the warmup acts.

Sounds like the Blue Collar Comedy Tour, but with even less intelligence.

What did Damon do to be mentioned in the same sentence with scum ?
Granted he had to be rescued as ā€œPrivate Ryan,ā€ ā€œThe Martian,ā€ ā€œJason Bourne,ā€ and costliest rescue ā€œInterstellarā€

But?? Has he done anything like Gaetz??

Not his fault that Gaetz is trying so hard to be him....but will never be...just like it's not Lacey Chabert's fault that Lauren Boebert looks like a dumber, meaner version of her, albeit with an enema shoved back there.
