Will The Scotus Declare Race-based Gerrymandering Unconstitutional?

You think it's a good thing for the government to engage in racism to combat racism?

I was told by my criminal law instructor (who at one point became the Public Defender for San Bernardino County) that we don't actually need laws prohibiting racism and all the rest. What we need are people who don't do that sort of thing.

I have yet to meet a Democrat who feels the same way. Ever.
Odd that your position now is that we don’t need any laws at all.

Redlining doesn't have a damn thing to do with skin color.
Well, I suppose this is at least one step up from claiming redlining doesn't exist because you don't remember reading about it in your Thomas Sowell books (as at least one deplorable here argued once), but it's just as wrong. Redlining had everything to do with skin color.

Eat shit. Redlining was about not making loans in areas of declining real estate values. Mortgage lenders did not want to put money at risk where in the near term the outstanding loan balance exceeded the property value. And in most cases those areas were in minority neighborhoods.

But wait, there's more.

Using a few friends as an example. They started buying up properties in the Charlestown section of Boston, one of the so called red line areas. The area had become a virtual slum. They paid cash and started renovating the properties. They were on the leading edge of the 'gentrification' of Charlestown.

And so it goes. When a neighborhood is allowed to fall into squalor the property values fall and no institution is going to underwrite mortgages and that's "racist." New money comes in and revitalizes the neighborhood and that's 'gentrification' which also deemed racist by the racialists.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Go fuck yourself.

Gee, it's almost as if you could put two and two together but are choosing not to...

Redlining was completely about race. The fact that it doesn't happen quite that way anymore isn't the point that I was making. IF it had nothing to do with race it wouldn't have been difficult for people of color with means to get out of those areas but it was not. It has even been proven to still be happening just its harder to prove that its happening. That they don't want a certain kind of person around regardless of the money they may or may not have.

Nobody is denying the existence of poor white people. Somehow that mistake gets made awful quick.

In California, the heavily red parts of the state still do have Republican representation (which of course is as it should be). In Connecticut and Massachusetts, there are no heavily red parts of the state. Now, you do make a good argument for a parliamentary system where parties get a number of seats that matches their share of the vote, but I know you well enough to know you would never want that.
If the Court sides against Louisiana’s racial gerrymandering, it sets a nationwide precedent. Many Democrat-controlled states that rely on majority-minority districts could be forced to redraw their maps, possibly eliminating dozens of safe Democrat seats, up to 25 or more, by some estimates. This could mark the largest rollback of race-based redistricting since the Civil Rights Era, fundamentally altering the electoral landscape and tipping the balance in the House. It could also end for decades to come Democrat Party leadership at the national level. That is what I want to see happen. They are the true threat to our democracy.

That would be awesome. I really hope it happens.

That’s awesome news.
There are now 31 solid red states against just 19 blue states, and those are already wobbling. Blue states are a dying breed. We’ve all but won the race, and with SCOTUS poised to dismantle the Democrats’ entire power-maintenance machine, it may soon be over except for the shouting.

It's fun to see how your brain works

Music to my ears.

Glad you’re enjoying the show, just remember, this is more than just my brain, it’s a high-horsepower information blender for facts and words. You toss something in, and I’ll serve it back sharper, louder, and more cogent with a little extra sting.

I do enjoy watching your horseshit.

Your self conceptual interpretation is fun too
