Those little bastards love to cheat. I don't know why, but it's a nation of cheating squinting kim-chee eaters.

Flame me and I'll prove it.

I used to play a game called Starcraft. Now Starcraft is a RTS(Real time strategey) game and became huge in Korea. I think three times as many copies sold in Korea then in the US.

There were ways to cheat, using hacks, in this game and most of the hacks came from Korea. A friend of mine who was korean and very, very good at the game actually went to Korea to compete in proffesional tournaments. He told me about the cyber cafes there.

Since not everyone has a computer there they have lots of cyber cafes with Starcraft loaded on the computers there. These computers also have the hacks loaded onto them that allow a person to cheat at the game.

He explained to me that it was a part of Korean culture. Winning mattered so much that the means you used to win were unimportant as long as you won.

I have to take his word for it because he has been there and they are his people. I have met many more Koreans who cheat or hack the game in some way the any other group and the game is played world wide. The flip side of this is that three times as many koreans play the game compared to anyone else.

No shit! Lumping all people of a certain nationality or cultural background into one big group and making disparaging remarks about them?

Tisk tisk tisk.

correction: those little bastards love to win.

it's only cheating if you're caught.

yes... they will be up to their slanty-eyed, weasily, asian tricks.

but i could care less about soccer or koreans etc so disregard this.

There is huge betting syndicates in the far east with a massive amoun of money being sloshed around on bets.

The Japanese / Koreans love a bet and will bet on anything.

There was a bit of concern that there could be some skullduggery by the way of the syndicates

About 4 to 5 years ago in the UK there was a lot of dodgy goings on at football games with far east money involved.

So you never know it is not as daft a remark as it first sounded

Just because you are black does not mean you cannot be racist. I believe you are a racist! blacks in Africa and Fiji and Guyana and UK and from every place are racist towards us Indians so you can easily be racist towards the Chinaman. It is possible. You just use cunning language and pretend you are not. But I can read between the sentences.

Hey Marxist,

The biggest racist on the board just called you a racist!

I know. I think that makes me Ghandi on some level.

Anybody remember Roy Jones Jr.?

Add me to the list of not a huge fan of the Koreans.

Based on a lot of face-to-face time...

You saw yayati and came running.

My suspicions about the Koreans comes from every international competition that I've watched them participate in. Sure, most countries are zealous about winning, but threatening the judges with immediate physical harm? Not even in the barbarous U.S. is that likely.

Current boxing champion Roy Jones Jr. (46 wins, 1 loss, 37 wins by knockout) was a victim of S. Korean cheatery at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. After almost knocking his bandy legged opponent out of the ring 3 times, he LOST to a decision when the all Korean crowd began to surge towards the ring and the judges.

And who can forget the cries of protest after the Salt Lake City games this year, when they didn't win at short track skating.

Are all Koreans cheaters? Of course not. Does S. Korea (as a country) overtly attempt to influence international competition through thuggery? Absolutely.

LOL

I remember that bout. But having grown up in the cold war, I grew so accustomed and jaded to Olympic politics that I figured anybody who was dumb enough to participate deserved what he/she/it(in the case of the East German Women's Swim Team) got.

And appearantly, not one freaking thing has changed since the end of the cold war. It's as fixed as the WWF...

So it's not just the Koreans. I dislike them for many other endearing personal traits which I do not care to elaborate on lest I sound [in a whiney voice] "racist... (when it is really "cultureist")."

I had a Korean roommate for a semester in college. Nice guy. But my Japanese friends refused to let him play soccer with us. Finally I asked why. They said, "He'll hurt us." I was dubious, the Japanese as a culture are known as elitists (the Germans of Asia), so I invited my roomie along to play a pick-up game.

Final body count: 3 bad ankles and a torn knee.
