WILD WILD WEST

Lynn followed the trail to the cabin. They had split up.
The marked shoe heading back to town alone. The other four heading further west. I horse was marking extra deep, the rider was still carrying the girl.

"Dam it. It's never easy!" Lynn was torn. Should he turn back after the lone rider. He knew that it had to be Jake.
"I'll get you one day McCloud." Lynn urged his weary mount on again. He'd trail the four men. He couldn't abandon the woman, his revenge could wait.

Revolver: i was too late to the ranch and screamed...
"Damnit McCloud You never Were a good outlaw!!"
i rode twords the trail i found as i saw a lone horsemen riding towrds me carrying a rifle and a shotgun...
he stopped right in front of me
"Its been a long time McCloud...."
"Sure has Revolver...."
"Just like alwayse you never could pull off a job without f-cking it up and leaving witnessess...you know i cant let you live now pally.. you messed with a buddy of mine for too damn long..."
"what ya gonna do cowboy....You cant get off a shot to save your life..."
"the hell i can!"
we stared down for what seemed like days. he put his guns in their holsters
we didnt move a muscle....he made the first move...bad decision..i rolled to the side getting my colt out while i did it..i rolled up and with one singular bullet took down one of the biggest outlaws in the country...my gun was still smoking as his horse walked away from his dead body..my body still poised in my stance...time seemed to be frozen still
OOC: ok this is after you catch up with the other four and shoot it out then you come riding back as you hear my shot ok??
IC: i saw Lynn ride up and he stared and McCloud...and then at me...

The fire was out. It had burned the barn to cinders, but that was all. It didn't go to any of the other building, Lewis was lucky.
"Fuck that," he said to himself, he was far from lucky. They had taken her, we was willing to die for her, and they just took her, and he let them, didn't even put up a fight.
She had called him a gentleman, he sure as hell didn't feel like one.
Lewis kneeled down, puking blood again. That was the fourth time, it was happening more frequent. Lewis got up, it couldn't be helped.
"Hank," he said, " Get the horses back, make sure everything is all right, and take care of the woman. I am going into town."
Lewis hopped up on one of the remaining horses in the yard. He wasn't the fastest, but he would have to do.
Hank yelled, "Boss, wait."
Lewis turned around, Hank threw him a gun belt. It had two guns in it, "You're gonna need this."
Lewis nodded, then sped off.
He had expected to get to the saloon, and then find out where Jake was from there.
Inside the saloon was alive and well. No one noticed Lewis enter.
He went up to Lucky.
"Where would Jake hide if he was in big trouble?"
Lucky was confused, but seeing the state LEwis was in answered.
"Well, him and his friends sometimes hide out in the old cave. About half an hourse ride west of here," he nodded left.
Lewis left in a hurry. He had to make it to that cave, before they hurt her.
Lewis sped off into the night. He didn't even notice the gun shot wound oozing blood from his stomache.

Vixen felt like there was someone trying to poke a branding iron into her skull. Her head hurt horribly. She moaned, wishing she could escape back into the darkness. As her eyes opened, she saw that she was somewhere dark. She sniffed the dank air and pressumed they were in some sort of cave.

She shivered, her whole body felt frozen. She heard the echoing sound of boots hitting the cave floor, they approached her. She closed her eyes, hoping they would think she was still unconcious.

"Looks like she's still out of it Donald." Jodie said.
"Coulda sworn I heard her moan... " he replied.
"Doesn't matter none," Jodie continued, "she doesn't have to be concious for us to have a little fun." Vixen could hear the sneer in his voice. She froze, God no, she thought, anything but that.

Donalds voice replied, "naw Jodie, it would be MUCH better to have her awake, nothing like an handful of woman screaming for mercy..." he snickered evily and Jodie joined him.
Vixen heard the foosteps draw closer. A boot nudged her stomach, she managed to remain silent, and limp, as her body moved. She was sure they were staring at her face. She tried to keep her face relaxed, but inside her stomach was churning with fear.

One of the men spit, thankfully she didn't feel it on her person. "Shit, she's still out of it, maybe one of the other boys wants to play with her while she's out do ya think?"
"Maybe... still, don't think I want none of their sloppy seconds if ya know what I mean?" They laughed at this crude joke and she heard them move off again. She almost lost it then. They clearly planned to rape her, she had to get outta here. She tested her restraints. Her arms were rubbed raw where the rope cut tight into her. Whoever had tied her sure as hell knew what he was doing.

She looked around the dark area trying to find some way to escape. She saw something glint. She managed to push herself up into a sitting postion. Her head swam and she felt the bile rise up in her throat. She fought it off, gritting her teeth against the pain. She squirmed along, slowly moving herself towards the gleaming item. As she drew close she saw it was a shard of rock sticking out of the wall. She squirmed until her back was facing it and started to rub against it. The rock slipped several times cutting into her skin. She refused to give up though. Finally she felt one of the ropes snap. Her arms were loose, but her wrists were still tied behind her. She felt the blood from her wounds drip down to her elbows. She took a deep breath, kneeled upright and began to painfully work on the rope at her wrists. She prayed she would be free before those men got back.

Lynn caught up with the men that evening when the stopped on a clearing by a small gulley. He left his horse behind a knoll about three hundred yards from their camp. Crawling along the gulley, he approached them unseen.

There was Vixen. She was working on freeing herself. He moved as close to her as he could get and still remain hidden. Afraid to speak he tossed a small rock, striking her shoulder. She froze against the ground terrified. He tossed another, still she didn't move. He had to chance it.
"Psst...Lucinda...hey... it's deputy Bougeois." She slowly turned to the sound of his voice. She began to open her mouth as she saw him. Lynn quickly motioned her to silence.

He tossed her his knife and she freed herself. Lynn gestured her to crawl to him. 2 of the men were close, to close.. one turned around.
"Move Vixen in the gulley." Lucinda jumped down into the cover as the men came running up. "Hey where're you goin' bitch.." Lynn jumped up and fired hitting the first man in the chest and the second twice in the gut. Reholstering his gun he picked up Vixen.

"I don't know where the others are. We got to run." Moving as fast as he could with the injured woman, Lynn made a break for the outlaws horses. He placed Vixen in the saddle of one, spooked away two, and mounted the last himself. Leading Vixens horse away they fled as lead sprayed dirt up around them.

They fled into the night making good time, when Vixen's horse went down.
"Dam," Lynn jumped down. Vixen was out cold. The horse had been shot during the escape. Placing the woman across his saddle he continued racing for town. Vixen didn't look good. He came upon Revolver and Jake's body on the ground.

"Is he dead?"

OOC:... i'm unconcious again?... [ggls]... don't know how much more of a battering this girl can take... [smiles]

IC:... [laying unconcious across Lynn's horse as he speaks to Revolver]

The remaining henchmen back at camp saw Lynn and Vixen leaving on two of their horses. One of them managed to shot Vixen's horse, it wouldn't last long they figured. Luckily they had spare horses in the back of the other cave.

Jodie was still pissed at losing Vixen, he wasn't sure how Jake was gonna take it. He turned to Donald who was checking to see if the two downed men were worth saving. He looked up and shook his head "no". Jodie, Donald and Marrick saddled up their horses. Jodie looked one last time in the direction Lynn & Vixen had fled. He would get that one back if it was the last thing he did.

The three men moved out, leaving that hide-out for the last time. They were headed towards a man who kept them well equipped with weapons and inside information. A man most people in Paradise Valley assumed had died the night John Cook left town. They rode their horses hard until they reached Capital City. A bustling metropolis, high ranking congressmen and businessmen all made a point of having at least one office there.

They hitched their horses at a tavern and Jodie went to find his boss.

It was too late. Inside the cave there was no one. There were tons of hoofprints, and footprints that were barely an hour old, but there was no one. He only saw one dead body, no one he recognized.
Lewis puked again, this time it was all blood. His mind was swirling, he was about to faint. Lewis slapped himself, bringing back consciousness. He had to go find someplace safe before he would pass out.
Lewis took up his horse and rode back into town. He wondered where Vixen was. He heard that Deputy Lynn had her, but that was only rumor. Lewis was worried about her.
He cursed himself for the thousandth time, letting her go with those men, why why had she done that.
"To save your life," a voice said. Lewis knew, the poor girl had sacrificed herself for him, and he would be eternally grateful.
Town came up, Lewis felt a sharp pain enter his stomache, something new, it felt like a sword or maybe a...
Lewis looked down, he saw the bullet hole, and the blood, there was a lot of blood. No wonder he was about to faint, he was losing too much blood.
Lewis got off the horse, he couldn't handle riding anymore. He had to stop, he had to go to someone to help. The world was spinning, it was like the worst hangover he had ever had.
Quickly he knocked on a door, not knowing where he was.
Someone answered, "Hello who is... LEWIS!!?!"
Lewis looked up, it was Laura. He had made it, somehow, to her house.
"Lauuu..." that was all the came out. Lewis collapsed on the floor, blood spilling everywhere.

"Come on Revolver, we got to get the lady some help."
The pair ride back to town, finally stopping at Lynn's place.
"I'll take he in here. See if you can get the Doc out here."
"Be back soon Lynn." Revolver galloped on to town.

Lynn carried her into the house and laid her out on his bed. The children were sleeping. Senora Gonzales still awake cared for her.
"Lynn what have you done to this woman! It looks as though she has been dragged by mules through catus."
"It wasn't me. She just had one hell of a day."

The doctor arrived and chased Lynn out of the room. He joined Revolver outside who was rolling a smoke.
"The sheriff says Lewis is shot bad. Smoke Lynn?"
"Naw, where they got him."
"Over to that girl Laura's I believe." The doctor joined the men on the porch.
"Got another one of those son?" Revolver deftly rolled up a cigarette for the Doc. "Boys it doesn't look good for the girl. Not much we can do but make her comfortable. That head injury, it's getting worse. I must go and check on Lewis."
"I'll ride along Doc," Lynn grabbed his hat, "I need to see Laura."

Vixen lay unconsious on the bed, but her body twitched occassionally as her mind was lost in it's own nightmare of darkness. She was unaware of gentle hands changing the wet compress on her head. All she saw was a swirling nightmare of images, the barn burning, Jake shooting Lewis... nothing made sense in this horror... she relived over and over, all the people she had ever loved, dying... again and again. She whimpered softly.

Senora Gonzales stared down at the poor girl and shook her head. She held the slender hand in hers and it felt so small so fragile. Vixen tossed again and Senora Gonzales watched the film of sweat on the girls brow as she battled her demons in the dark place her mind had taken her to. For the umpteenth time, she patiently soaked the towel in cool water and applied it to Vixen's brow.

Lynn tied his horse and knocked on Laura's door.
"Lynn, hows Lucinda?" Laura gestured Lynn in the house.
"Not good, what's the Doc say about Lewis." Laura choked up, unable to speak for a moment. She answered with a tear in her eye.
"He'll die Lynn. There's nothing to be done."
"But there is Laura. John told us about a magic gold liquid that might heal them both. We've got to find John.
We've got to locate that stuff. It's the only chance."

ooc:... oh oh oh!... i've got this idea!... hope y'all don't mind this... but i think that Laura should find the vial she buried in the rose bushes... but it's empty... my idea is that... when the indian's buried it under the tree they knew the roots would deliver the elixer to John's father's grave... okay... bear with me... that's why... the henchmen are visiting Capital City now... that's where John's father has been all this time... slowly building his empire... what do you guys think?... although... maybe... maybe... you try and pour water into the now empty vial... hoping that just a hint of the elixer is still there?... cause quite frankly... i don't want to live forever... but i don't wanna die either... just an idea... use it if you like... [smiles]!.... Shy Goddess... love your Laura... as always hon... brilliant character... full of life... keep it coming!... [winks]

OOC: what if you did use water for the elixir, but there was only enough for one, so now there is a tough decision, use it on Lewis or Vixen?

ooc:.. in which case they should use it on Lewis... because although Vixen's head wound is worse... she isn't at deaths door... Lewis is... [nod nod]...

OOC: Are you insane. Lewis may be almost dead, but he is a guy, no way is he going to take the elixir. When a ship goes down who abandones first? Women and children do. You have to take the bullet, Lewis already did.

can i have a say in this? i think that they both take half the elixer. this way lewis will walk funny for the rest of his life but wont die. and vixen will be able to heal in due time. There Its settled.

OOC: Roland, no offense, but that is too easy. It doesn't create conflict. We need some things where there is conflict, where it brings others into it. Sometimes there has to be answers that don't totally fulfill the question. Like in arabian nights.
If you would have known there was a warlock using Garret's body in the first post, it would have been a simple attack then it would be over, but because you didn't we got to play with it a little bit, the whole point of a story is to have a conflict and to somehow fix that conflict, the easier we fix it the harder it is to look for another one.
Is all I am saying.

ooc:... [ggls at Roland's occ]... to poohlive though... how sexist!... [lol]... and besides... you're probably unconcious too... maybe they'll force you to take it huh?... [smirks]... [winks]... Roland... you have some good ideas darlin'... [laughs]... this is such a fun thread...

OOC If I might make a suggestion..Let Shy Goddess, as Laura or John decide which fatally stricken character receives the cure. Of course, there is only enough left in the leaking bottle for one.

Perhaps more could be located at a later time. John's father could require a steady supply to survive.

OOC: That is true, that is only one possible way this thread could go. There are tons of directions. I would post, but technically Garret is unconscious and about to die.
I do look forward to reading more posts so I can get in again, i want to see how this turns out.

OOC: no offense, but the two really aren't that far apart from each other, in a literary sense, that is.

it looks like this thread is starting to wind down. like a good old western we need someone to ride into the sunset. the problem is who... oh and by the way once this thread is 86'ed i will start a new wild west kinda thread, i will explain when i make

Jodie entered the office. The receptionist looked at him with distain. She sniffed haughtily and told him to wait. She came out a bit later and told him to go in. Jodie nodded, he didn't like offices... it was the main reason he was a hired gunman... he liked being able to ride... and occassionally shoot. Life was suppossed to be easy. He gulped nervously and entered the office.

It was always dark in here. Smelt musty too like fresh air never had a chance to get in. "Mr Cook Sir?" He asked quietly.
"Yesss Jodie... I had been expecting you..."
Jodie nodded at the vague silhouette of the man at the desk.
"Report Jodie..."
"Yes Sir... we... we had a spot of trouble..."
"Hmmmm..."
"Jake... Jake had a bit of trouble with a local ranch owner... we took a girl hostage... we lost her at the caves... lost two men too... Jake went back to the Saloon I thought I should report to you..."
"Yes well..." the voice was grim... "Jake unfortunately didn't make it back to the Saloon Jodie"
"Sir?"
"He was gunned down by a man called Revolver"
"Revolver? He's in town?"
"Yes... I'm NOT pleased Jodie... things are getting very messy down there in Paradise Valley. It's been a constant thorn in my side. I think... I think it's time to clean up shop."
"C...clean up Sir?"
"Yess..." Jodie could almost hear the cold smile in the voice, "I have a contact, and Indian... he's been most helpful... I'll be sending you and your remaining boys back with a decent supply of weapons... I don't want anything left standing in Paradise Valley... anything... not even a smudge... do I make myself clear?"
"YES SIR!" Jodie grinned, he might have to wipe that little singing whore out... but he'd be able to have A LOT of fun with her before he'd do that.
"Talk to my receptionist... she'll give you the necessary details"
Jodie left the office.
The man left to his own thoughts sighed a little. "Such a pity... " he murmered to himself.

Laura held the lantern high to give Lynn light as he dug deeper into the ground. The lantern cast erie shadows as it flickered and swayed in the woman's grasp.
"You sure this is the spot Laura? I'm getting pretty deep down." Lynn wiped the sweat from his eyes. The sun had set hours ago, yet the heat of a long summer day lingered.
"It was here, I'm sure. Please keep looking."
"Alright, I'll widen the hole a bit here." The deputy dug at the sides of the hole widening the search area. Finally striking something hard.
"Here's something...my God it's a coffin. Laura we've cut into a grave here. I wonder, hey...this is near where they buried John's father." Lynn probed around the side of the coffin with his shovel. "Dam roots are every where."
"Lynn look there, above the casket." Laura knelt down holding the lantern closer. "See that wood, like part of a box." Lynn chopped through some roots with his shovel and pulled out a rotted box. He set it on the ground on top of the hole. The cover crumbled in his hands as he opened it.
In side was the vial. The stopper was off. It was almost empty.
"Oh no, it's gone." Laura set down the lantern and grabbed the vial.
"Not all of it there's a little left. Let me cover up this hole and well take it back to the house. Lynn stepped on the side of the coffin climbing out of the hole and the rotting wood collasped.
"Dam it. I'll cover it.." Lynn bent to pick up the pieces and looked in the open side of the casket. "It's empty. He's gone."

Lynn sat at the table inspecting the vial, while Laura paced the room.
"Laura let me take this to old Charlie. He might know what it can do."
"Charlie the drunk?"
"He was a medicine man a long time ago. Before his tribe was killed off. They say he had some powerful medicine in his day." Lynn put the vial in his pocket, stood and held Laura by the shoulders, looking deep into her eyes. "Take care of Lewis here. I'll be back as quick as I can." The deputy walked out the front door and headed toward the saloon.

Senora Gonzales had nursed many injured and wounded in her day. Being half souix she had learned some old herbal remedies from her mother. Lucinda was responding to her treatments faster than the woman had ever expected. She was finally awake, alert and asking for food.
"Maybe you be alright after all honey, I'll fix you something." The woman left Lucinda in good hands. The children had taken to nursing her.
