John Walker walked to his Jeep, he was in town to buy supplies, the vehicle was stocked to the gills with all types of food that they lacked back at the Nature Reserve. He got inside of the Jeep and started it...or at least tried to start it, it only turned over, spluttered, coughed and did nothing further. He shook his head and got out, popping open the hood he looked inside, the old engine was still in a good condition, but all the miles spent with them did make them act up from time to time. He first opened the water trap, it was empty, that meant only one thing, getting a screwdriver he undid one of the clamps holding the hose running from the diesel pump to the engine, pulling the pipe loose he started to press the manual pump and after a few moments he was rewarded with diesel jetting out of the pump, he connected the hose, tightened it again and then pumped the pump a few more times to make sure the diesel was running through the pump and then closed the hood.

He got back into the Jeep, turned the key, with a few more groans the engine sputtered and then the engine turned over and then suddenly purred to live, he listened to the engine as it idled like nothing had been wrong at all. He grinned and then shifted the Jeep into gear, patting the steering wheel,

"Yeah girl, I'll talk to the boss for getting you a new heart."

He smiled and drove off.

Angie leaned her head against the seat behind her as the engine of her car sputtered and gave out. She pulled off to the side of the dirt road, groaning in frustration. She had no idea why she wanted to drive herself out here, and no idea why she was out here in the first place. Her photographer thought the nearby cityscape would be good for her next shoot. She assumed he knew what he was talking about, as usual, and agreed before putting much thought into it. She didn't even know how there was a city out here.

She was regretting that now.

"No more remote areas," she muttered, popping the hood and stepping out of her car.

She walked around to the front, pulling the hood open and looking at the guts of her car. She had no idea what she was even looking at, having no idea which part the actual engine even was. She dusted off her skirt and blouse, holding her head in her hands and shaking her head. She desperately hoped someone would drive by who preferably wasn't a psycho and knew how to fix cars. She turned to look up and down the road briefly before leaning against her car, muttering to herself.

Driving out of town, he was happily munching down on a packet of choc chip cookies, going months without them, he really enjoyed them when he got the chance. A few miles down the road he saw a car standing next to the road, hood open, well no harm in finding out if everything is OK. He checked the mirrors, moving across the lane and pulled to a stop in front of the other vehicle. He got out, shifting his sunglasses on top of his cap's visor, he walked closer, noting the blonde hair first, he gave her a disarming smile,

"Good day ma'am, having car troubles?"

He knew it was obvious, but he couldn't just bustle in, looking to fix anything if she's fine and helped already.

Angie

She glanced up the road at the distant sound of a vehicle, idly taking a drink from her water bottle. Sure enough, after a couple minutes, a jeep pulled around the corner with a uniformed man at the wheel. He pulled off to the side of the road and got out, shifting his sunglasses slightly. She found herself shifting slightly as well. He didn't look half bad in a uniform.

"Good day ma'am, having car troubles?"

She smiled back at him, brushing her hair out of her eyes.

"Yes, actually, I am. You wouldn't happen to know anything about cars, would you? I'd be ever so grateful if you could...help me out."

She gestured at the popped hood, wondering if he could help her.

"Well I am no mechanic, but I am sure I can have a look."

He peeked at the engine, it was petrol and it was new, but it had to do the basic stuff right.

"Could you turn the ignition for me please."

He listened to the engine as it struggled to start, pulling his multitool from the pouch on his hip, he first undid the cap housing the filter, the petrol flowed through as the engine struggled for life. He replaced the cap, opened the air filter and took out the diaphragm, blowing on the paper fins a cloud of dust rose up from his hands, threatening to engulf him. He waved it aside, placing the diaphragm on the engine, he opened the hood of his Jeep, he got a mobile compressor out of the Jeep, connected it to the battery and switched it on. He waited for the little tank to fill up, aimed the nozzle at the diaphragm and pressed the button. The dust which it blew out was spectacular and way too much. He coughed some of the dust out of his mouth and throat, blew out the air filter compartment and fitted the diaphragm in, locking the hood in place, he switched off the compressor.

"Ok try her now."

A slight slur and then the engine purred to life, he grinned, he was lucky today, packing up the compressor, he closed both hoods,

"Well there you go ma'am, you really should tell your dealer to step up their game, that filter was really very clogged up."
