Why read a genre you don't like?
One of my stories has PC from someone (a named someone even) that says something along the lines of: "I really don't like this genre and hated your story, but you write really well."

Ah, gee, thanks. I think.
Pity about the crap vote though.

*HUGS*

It's just trolls being trolls, my dear.

They like being offended, it gives their tiny lives purpose.

They're all legends in their own minds!

I laughed.
Which I doubt was their intent.
But they managed to screw up a really good voting average.

It'll get swept, no worries.

Don't give false hope, Rob. There is no way of knowing it will get swept, especially if there was a PC attached. :( I have a lot of one-bombs that are still intact, even after I have complained about them.

Swept? How so?

Lit has a program go through stories and remove any votes it regards as illicit. Not sure what algorithm it uses but it seems to catch most troll votes.

This is known as a 'troll sweep' or just 'sweep'.

Takes a while sometimes but done eventually.

Ah, yes, those that like to damn with faint praise. Sorry they bothered to vote as well as leave you such a PC. My recommendation, erase the comment (which you can) and start to ignore the ratings. All that really matters is the good feedback you get from folk who've enjoyed your tale. You're giving some people a good read, that's all that matters :cathappy:

That's good to know - nice that there's some hope against trollery.

Lit does have a "Read A Random Story" function that will pick a story at random from all stories in all categories.

One clarification on the periodic vote sweeps -- Lit check for and removes "Fraudulent or Malicious" votes; that can include just as many high votes as it does low votes. They purposely do not reveal anything about the criteria or methodology to make it more difficult for fraudulent and malicious voters to avoid the sweeps.

Te only thing that can be said for certain is that duplicate votes are removed and they will check for and remove singleton votes where all of an author's stories are one-bombed (or Five-boosted) by a the same voter.

That last part doesn't really seem fair. I have some fans who tell me they love all my stories and, presumably, they vote accordingly.

I'd imagine there's some kind of time component to it. If someone votes for 10 of your stories in 10 minutes, chances are they weren't really reading them.

As long as they only vote once there should be no problem. There might be some time limit that could cause problems if someone goes through all of your stories and votes the same on all of them all at once, but if your fans are voting on your stores as they read them there's no reason their votes should trip any warning flags.
