The Tea Party has officially entered the United States Congress.
Representative Michele Bachmann, the outspoken Minnesota Republican, has won approval from House leaders to form a Tea Party Caucus.
And on Wednesday, the group will hold its first meeting followed by a news conference. Aides said that already at least a dozen lawmakers
had asked to join and that more were expected to sign up at the meeting. The House Republican leader, Representative John A. Boehner of
Ohio, will not join the caucus.

House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) responds to Michele Bachmann's attacks on Huma Abedin, aide to Hilary Clinton
On Thursday, House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) praised Ms. Abedin’s “sterling character,” noting that the accusations against her are “dangerous.”
Ms. Bachmann’s letter, signed by four other Republican congressmen, asserts that Ms. Abedin’s father (who died when she was a teenager),
mother and brother are “connected” to the Muslim Brotherhood. It calls on the State Department’s inspector general to investigate the
organization’s supposed influence in the U.S. government. In a separate letter, Ms. Bachmann asks how Ms. Abedin, who is Ms. Clinton’s
deputy chief of staff, received her security clearance.
"Over the past decade, I have had the pleasure of coming to know Huma during her long and dedicated service to Hillary Rodham Clinton, both in
the United States Senate and now in the Department of State."
- Sen. John McCain

Abedin's father, Syed Zainul Abedin, was born in what was then British India in 1928 and was an alumnus of Aligarh Muslim University and later
received his PhD from the University of Pennsylvania. He died in 1993 when was Abedin, who was born and raised in Kalamazoo, Michigan, was 17.
Her mother, a Pakistani, also received her PhD from the University of Pennsylvania and is currently an associate professor of sociology at Dar Al-Hekma
College in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Michele Bachmann (R-MN) announced 11 minutes into Monday night's Republican debate in Manchester, N.H., that she had formally filed papers to run for president.
She ( Michele Bachman ) also used her moment on the national stage, which she shared with six other candidates, to announce that she had formally filed her
papers to run for president. The announcement comes less than eight months before the first GOP presidential nomination contest will be held in Iowa,
the state of her birth.
The savvy political move, which came just 11 minutes into Monday night's nationally televised event, guaranteed that her name would dominate early stories
flooding the Internet about the debate. The event also featured former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who, according to polls is an early frontruner, and
Bachmann's fellow Minnesotan, former Gov. Tim Pawlenty.
