Today my mother, father, and myself took the long trip (takes us 2 hours to get there) to INS (immigration and naturalization services) to renew my father's (step-father by law, father in my heart) green card status.
The three of us where nervous wrecks going in. Dad set off the metal detector going in and fell into an utter panic... It was his zipper that set it off..
We got to the office a half hour early... So we sat, and got even more nervous as the moment went on.
Then it's our time, and we get into the smaller office...
The officer smiles and says "You know, you can apply for citizinship now" and he approves my father's perminant resident status, and go tus the paperwork for his citizenship application.
Within a year, my father is going to be a US citizen. He will be furfilling a life long dream.
I thought I would like to share this little happy note.
