The Republican Party has a lot of problems, and if there’s one that doesn’t get enough attention, it’s the party’s broad appeal to provocateurs, faux martyrs, and grifters.

Just look at the speakers list for the Republican Leadership Conference, which began on Thursday. There’s Donald Trump, the man who made “birtherism” a national cause; Herman Cain, whose presidential run was a glorified book tour; Dinesh D’Souza, who just pleaded guilty to a felony campaign finance violation, and Phil Robertson, the Duck Dynasty star who—like Cliven Bundy—believes black Americans were better off under racist oppression.

More here.

Let's not announce the fatal flaws in the GOP. It can die in ignorance.

Can't read the article on the phone, but the answer is obvious. Conservatism is a fear based ideology. As opposed to Liberalism which is anger based. Out of the two, fear is the much easier one for grifters to exploit.

Add whiners, complainers and victims to the list.

like the obama kind is any different.

if you stupid people would wake the fuck up, fire them all, and bring in new people...aka people that haven't sold out. uncorrupted.

clearly, the Dem's lead in being corrupt!

Provocateurs, grifters, faux martyrs are as american as hoopla, medicine shows, land speculation and PT Barnum. The TeaOP is the direct inheritor of the white-populist lineage of William Jennings Bryan & Huey Long's stump speeches, of the Jackson era cronies who got rich stealing land from indians and selling it to suckers, and of the rhetoric of Senator Bilbo, who famously denounced "shooters of widows and orphans," "international well-poisoners," and "skunks who steal Gideon Bibles from hotel rooms."

I don't know if I want them running the country but their tradition is long and honorable, as is that of the Slate magazine types...the New England schoolmarms and bluestockings, the Progressive ministers, the orderly, bien pensant wellmeaning Puritans who have looked with horror since the beginning on the violence, color and blarney of the rest of the nation.

Interesting...

...will your next exposé focus on Why the Democrat Party attracts men married to sex offenders?

Good old Eeyore. He knows lots of things, unfortunately for him, none of them are true.

You should shack up with query, you two have much in common in that respect.

Who knows, maybe he can even loosen your tight ass up to the point where you might dare to spell a curse properly.

You know "God" doesn't much care if you spell it pvssy or pussy.. It's the intention that counts. You're going to hell for pvssy just as sure as you are for pussy. So why beat around the bush? So to speak. Pussy.

What's your sex offender wife up to these days, U_D?

Or...

...is it best I not even ask?

Do they allow you to visit on weekends?

You never tire of being a willfully misinformed moron do you Eeyore?

What does your Holy Book say about bearing false witness?

Proverbs 6:16-19
There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.

Proverbs 19:9
A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who breathes out lies will perish.

Matthew 15:18-19
“But the things that proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and those defile the man. For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, slanders.

Better get to praying in earnest.
Repent Eeyore, or you will find yourself roasting for eternity in a lake of fire.

P.S. purposely misspelling "bad" words doesn't fool God for a moment, dumbazz.

It's unfortunate that your wife's account on this Board of her online escapades with a minor was deleted because it's content was against LIT rules...

...then you could really show me how "willfully misinformed" I am, huh wannabe?

Don't worry Eeyore. I hear God forgives all sinners, even those who knowingly perpetuate lies and flagellate deceased equines.

He's pretty rough on people who misspell "Pvssy" though.

She's refusing to see you for the remainder of her term, huh?

That's so sad...

...but, hey: you knew she was a sex offender before you married her; surely there's another out there just waiting for a swell guy like you to amble along.

Both interesting -- but not of equivalent value, of course.

I was aware of Robertson. I cringed when I heard he was on the list. The other three aren't surprising. I expect Bundy to be asked and given star billing and treatment. It's a sacrifice for him to leave his ranch, but true patriots do what they have to do for freedom, including paying attorney fees to avoid paying what they owe that darn evil government. Should be interesting what new and improved ideas this conference has about women's issues. I understand they're still with telling women it's just a matter of their silence, smiling, and just allowing men to shut that whole thing down. Still doesn't seem to be working for them. Plus ca change ...

Interesting. :): Haven't been keeping up with the news lately due to work. Thanks for link.

Sorry for reposting the other comment again. I'm on my fricking droid and just woke up from a nap.

Quoted for irony; the opposite is true.

Of course, you are always correct even when it's just opinion, assumption and inference. We all bow to the wisdom of the GBGB.
