Why the nickname?

Nicknames usually have some bases of origin although sometimes they are chosen too quickly to really have a specific meaning.

Mine was chosen from My web address which was a bit lazy but I usually just use My real name and was getting a little bored with it the day I came to Lit.

People think either that I am from Ohio, or I am Japanese, but neither is true. My last name begins with O, and I thought Oh would be clever. Also it reminds me of the Beach Boys song, Caroline No.

I'll try to make this short..

My Mom calls me Bruce, but Bruce is just my name. Doctor Blue is who i am.

i had a roommate from Korea who couldn't tell his L's from his R's. When i tried to teach him to say my name, it came out Bloos Star. Hmmm... "Blue Star," i said to me, "i like the sound of that."

Later i worked in a band with another Bruce and to keep things straight, they started calling me Blue.

To this day, most of the musicians on the Iron Range of Minnesota know me as "Blue".

My "Doctorate" i got at a local strip joint, for my anatomical studies. Sounds funny, but it's true. Most of the (non-musical) people i used to drink with call me "Doc".

There! It's on the "record" now!

Sierra is from the GMC truck (i had one, and absolutely loved it.... then ex took it, when we separated, so this is one way of keeping it with me... ) stupid?? yes, i know... i use the sierra in most everything i do online.....

Cymbidium orchids are an unusually hardy temperate zone species of orchid that not only survive but thrive in places and under conditions that would kill or maim other, more delicate orchid species. I thought that an almost poetically apt nick for a strongly masochistic submissive like me when i took it five or six years ago. All i had to do was to change the ending because i'm far too vain to have a nick that ends with a "dum" sound. To make this all the more perfect, i have a degree in plant biology. I had to have a plant-type nick, you see? It was fated.

Now, how to describe why I came to use willowpuss.

I wanted pussywillow. That was taken. So I reversed it. Didn't like all small letters for some reason, so I tried Willowpuss. Nope, didn't like that either ... so WillowPuss.

As to why ... hmmmmm that is hard to describe without sounding a total idiot - so will save that.

At one time I was going thru some emotional hell: my husband had an affair with a co-worker and almost got fired, we decided to seperate, I was stuck in a state I hated... I felt so belittled, so insignificant, so impotent, so weak, so uncared for... and like all good superhero's created an alter ego, so I could at least pretend I had self esteem, self power, and some self worth. LadyPain was a gaming character created one night when I was especially depressed. A would-be suitor started calling me his m'lady (yeah he was one of those renfaire types lol), and I kinda liked it, so my alter ego became M'LadyPain.

Now, I "AM" the M'LadyPain LOL

Morninggirl comes from something Michael Waltrip said to a friend and i at Charlotte Motor Speedway one morning. It was the only alternate id that i wanted that didn't get shot down by the MW online club mod's. I still don't know why he didn't like MW'sDreamRental or MWRentalWoman.

When i registered the nick there, i wanted it to be morninggirl15 but i looked at it wrong and thought the l was a 1 and registered as morninggirl5. I've grown accustomed to the 5, so it stays.

I have a degree in Wildlife Biology and Vulpes vulpes is the scientific name for the red fox. It was the only latin name I could think of that had any kind of ring to it.

I chose petrel because I wanted a name that wasn't obviuosly genderised or sexualised.
I love sea birds and the petrel appealed to me - especially the storm petrel (my yahoo nick is stormypetreluk) they are tiny (6-8 cm) but completely nuts landing in rough weather and storms. Petrels were also called Mother Carey's Chick's and after reading the waterbabies I always had a fodnness for them.

I also loved the colour that I associate with petrel blue - a steel blue grey colour.
