Why so many recycled stories?

Everything that could be written has been. It's how it's written, the variations and twist, alterations. We haven't ran out of those, yet, I hope.

There are only so many ideas, so many themes to write. it's only normal that they get recycled. I think we're rapidly approaching a literary singularity at which point all stories will suddenly coalesce into a single massive story with infinite characters doing infinite various illicit things to each other, probably written by either @onehitwanda, @StillStunned, or @EmilyMiller

The Reduced Shakespeare Company used to do a show called "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abbridged)", where they summarise all the comedies as "There's a king/prince/duke who has one/three/seven sons/daughters..." and so on.

In Lit terms, this would probably involve tentacle monsters.

One of the more original erotic story ideas I've read on here, was a young girl(18) somehow met Jesus(the Savior), and had amazing sex with him. It gave me the heebee jeebies reading it, but it was actually well done. It may have involved time travel.

I don't believe it's still around, I checked a few years ago. I suppose that wouldn't qualify under the rules today,not allowing real people to be used in a story.
