Testoserone is the primary hormone that creates sex drive. Men have it in abundance during their youth. As they age, it starts to dwindle. Their sex drive diminishes.

Women also produce testoserone, but in a much smaller quantity. Additionally, they also produce estrogen, which counteracts testoserone. As a woman ages, her production of estrogen decreases. Once she passes menopause, about all she has is testoserone. (Remember Grandma's mustach?!?) A woman's sex drive increases, especially after menopause.

There's a special term used for women that realize this and pursue younger men (with their high sex drives) when they get older. They call us "cougars".

Most menopausal and post-menopausal women are not cougars, though. Exceptions exist to any trend, but the general trend is that sex drives decrease (not necessary vanish) with age. That's probably tends to happen faster with women, in general, than men.

I have a suspicion it might be changing, partly for psychological and social reasons and partly for evolutionary ones, but the trend is there to be seen right now.
