Why medical marijuana in Pennsylvania is some of the most costly in the U.S.

Short form:
Over regulation, limited competition and general fuckery!

There, street dealers typically price an ounce at $350, undercutting legal prices — by a little.

Still, “there’s no reason cannabis, legal or from the traditional market, should cost more than $65 an ounce,” said Chris Goldstein, a regional spokesman for NORML, the organization that has long lobbied for more lenient marijuana laws.

Nonetheless, one Philadelphia underground dealer was recently selling premium marijuana to consumers for $400 an ounce.

Shit a 'Dime" bag is a long way off now!

Choices...you can get high...or you can feed a family of 4 for 2 weeks.

I'm not one to argue for taxation and regulation of everything and this is definitely an area where I have some conflicts.

Legal pot in all States that have it is overly priced and overly regulated.

I do think pot is a good revenue source for states and I do agree with some increase in cost to send that money to areas of State budgets that are identified prior and specifically. No sending it to General funds.

State are so inefficient with their own budgets and the belief that permeates the mentalities in govt that you just increase taxation, fees, licensing is plain wrong and sets up all municipalities for failure sooner or later.

Remember...I'm a progressive and yes I do believe this ideal(which is more a libertarian/Republican ideal though some Dems and Independents also feel this way)

Pa. Needs to legal recreational use to increase the supply.... hopefully that will bring the cost down somewhat.
