I'll tell you why. there are people out their who, not trying to hide their lustful nature, instead let it hold a part of them. here, we are free from inhibitions and can say anything we choose, with no ridicule from people we just might know out in the real world. so it's a mask that looks so very much like our own face, but that there's no face at all. we are, in a sense, still our own person, who we are IRL, but we don't have to hide here, because we're already hidden. we love this place and would fight tooth and nail to keep it up (at least i would) because it's a place where that little american dealie about free speech under anonymity and equal respect for all actually WORKS here. there's no racial discrimination... i mean, the smilies are blue and green and yellow! there's no age discrimination. there's no sexual discrimination. this is a society, even if it's not real, in which all people are equal. truly equal.

i call it... CYBERDEMOCRACY!!!

here there is no mask

the self we have here is the true us, because we can trust complete strangers who've never seen us before in our lives morwe than we can those who calim to love us.

True of course.....

But I would like to be this way all the time. I would like all of us who pretend to be something else, walking our sidewalks to unite in the light of day. Maybe then those who promote regression would be outnumbered.

I would like to be able to smile and have someone see that smile and know it was mine and not some actresses'. we could dream together, to each his own, but we would live ina world better than anything we'd ever imgained if we could only be ourselves!

For me, at least, part of the fun in coming here is encountering the familiar names and personalities of the Lit population. I want their acceptance, I want to be part of the "in" crowd.

Yes, I am free to say anything I choose, but not without the possibility of ridicule. In fact, ridicule is probably given more freely here than in face-to-face contact. And that ridicule, though maybe not coming from someone I know personally, can still hurt. Especially if I were sharing something personal that I wouldn't share with my RL friends.

We are still judged here, though not by the usual visual standards. Here, it is our ability with words, our grammar and punctuation (for some), and the personality we choose to display, among many other things, that determine others' opinions of us. And we aren't all equal.

That said, this board is for entertainment purposes only and is not to be taken too seriously. HA!

but that's the point! if we are ridiculed, it's because of our actions or opinions, things that are ours to decide, not our looks or parentage.

Wadaya mean judged, Sally???

Piffle,Piffle. These folks aren't judgemental. They're just a triffle opinionated. By the way, don't try to email me for awhile 'cause I'm hospitalized from so many trucks running me down. I'll be back, soon, good as new..... What's that Doc? I'm all healed. Wow. Modern medicine. Don't you just love it.

a trifle opinionated? *grins* thwe undertstatement of the millenium!

the people here don't talk too much, we just have alot to say. I think so, anyway, and that's the whole point!

I, for one, am really glad that Literotica exists. I'll be even gladder in the spring.

I gotta disagree. I talk a lot. I have very little to say of any worth. As a matter of fact, I know a little bit about a hell of a lot of things. But, on the other hand I know very little about any one specific thing. Then there's the third hand, or maybe it's the foot, I'm opinionated. Although, I feel too shy to share my opinionism most of the time, yet, I get bold. My punctuation. is perfect always, My grammar are impeccable? and wood you look at my speling skils! I/m always agreeable, but I'm disagreeing now. Perhaps it was the fish I had for dinner. Talk about manners, the little twit didn't say excuse me after he belched.

But, wait, on a more serious note (at least more serious than my previous reply)I actually went away and thought about this thread. Yeah, I know, me thinking, what a new concept. Anyhoo, I'd have to say probably the thing I like the most about this site is; when I see someone post something that to me is totally ridiculous, or just plain ignorant, *I* don't have to be the one to call them on it. For you see, my conscience is usually way too uptight to do such a thing. All I need do is, wait a few minutes, return to the thread, and, voila! Someone with more of a back bone has posted what turns out to be pretty darn close to my actual thoughts.

So, kudos to those brazen individuals.

This is true, and unfortunate. But it is a media that jugdes differently. someone that is obese, or not attractive physically, or has discrimination issues due to something physical (color of skin or any other visual characteristics) has a chance to work on their self esteem, and for them that is positive. They will have to develop their communications skills via a keyboard, but the beauty of this, is they can take as much time as they need to achieve this.

I disagree with this statement. Yes it is for entertainment, but not *only*. Personally, I am trying to improve my writing skills, which is a learning experience in itself.
