Why is the Sky Blue?

They taught me this one in college. I so know this one.

Is there a test? Is this on the final?

Because the grass is green...if both were green pilots would get confused and crash more often.

Essentially it has to do with with ulterviolet radiation and something called scattering, dipole scattering to be exact. What happens, simplistically, is that the sun's light with its full spectrum of colors comes crashing into the Earth's atmosphere. Most of it makes it through, the rest bounces off things in the atmosphere, like ozone and other stuff. What's generally scattered is the higher frequencies, or the reds, while the lower frequencies, like the blues, make it through. There's tons more to it than that, it took like three days to cover in class, but that's a general gist.

:)

I refuse to accept any of this.

In my world the sky is green and the rivers rush to the mountains.

The nitrogen molecules in the Earth's atmosphere diffuse the incoming sunlight giving the sky its blue color.

Prometheus' folly was this:

He was a God, yet he loved the mortal world. He gave to them so many of things described above. Things that only the Gods were supposed to be entitled to. He wanted to be with the humans, to be human, but he could not. For all his incredible abilities he could not change the fact that he was not human. In the end he suffered miserably, at the hands of Zeus, for his wanting.

Some things in life you can't change. Some people can't be changed ,will never be the way you want them to be.

Look inside yourself and see who you really are. You can't deny that. It's like trying to change the color of the sky or the direction the rivers flow. No matter how hard you want to try. It's just the way things are.

Prometheus was a Titan, not a God, and he didn't want to be a human, he created them out of clay, and eventually Zeus let him go and stopped his misery. In the end Prometheus changed quite a bit, not only himself, but the world entire.

I say don't accept who are as much as who you aspire to be.

Why not green?

Dang...if i wanted to hear questions like that, I'll stay off of Lit and hang around my little boy more! LOL! But usually the questions here are much easier for my puny, barely educated brain to comprehend!
