I agree 100%. You have to have a very thick skin there or you will get your feelings hurt.

I go to both forums and the GB is much harsher with their posting. Not sure yet if people are really that mean or just think being mean is funny. I do know you better have a very thick skin if you are going to fit in there. It can be entertaining when a really good fight breaks out on one of the threads though.

Boring?? I think not. I'd like to see some of the people here come over there and stay throughout a thread. And contribute something significant then come back and complain it was so boring. If you feel that way, why bother coming over at all?

I go to both forums and the GB is much harsher with their posting. Not sure yet if people are really that mean or just think being mean is funny. Why post then? I come to Lit for entertainment, to visit with friends and make new friends, for enjoyment.

and I guess that's worse than some of the stupid, nonsensical threads that are started for no earthly reason on the GB......
threads like:

Oh lets not forget the threads knocking the new HT Cafe board (4 separate threads at last count, lol)

Many of the threads on the GB make no sense. A good percentage of them get few replies and they die off.
Youll find very, very few threads on the PG like that.... because most of the threads started here make sense... they serve a purpose and they are threads which near 'bout everyone feels comfortable posting to, with very few exceptions (but admitedly there are exceptions).

So I wonder which is worse..... or is EITHER worse?

I know one in particular thread you mention above is a parody thread. We like good conversation and often we can cover everything we need to cover in a discussion and it does die off quickly. Part of the reason is we don't clog up the bandwidth with {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} and emoticon abuse. Most of our threads do indeed make sense, some do not, these are usually parody threads. Yall do understand parody right? Bleive it or not, we're not that mean, and we do like to have fun.

Wow, I thought even the kids on the "short bus" could understand a thread like "Glamorilla your box is Full again."

Let me try to break it down for you so that you CAN understand. Trying to reach someone to talk about a real life issue when you know they are on the board but their pm box is full - how do you do that? You start a thread (or bump the same one, over and over) for the person to see it and CLEAN OUT THEIR BOX!!! Could it be the info you want to send in a PM is not something you want on the board for general consumption?

And from what I've noticed on the Playground, MOST threads die out because the board is taken over by the long time never ending threads that hog the first page. New threads don't have a chance here. For example, right NOW, this thread is the only thread on the first page of the Playground that doesn't have at least 579 posts to it. And the vast majority of them have thousands! On the GB, I'd have them ALL on ignore. I hate never ending threads, personally.
