Why is Putin still fighting this war? He must see clearly that his original goal of installing a pro-Russian government in Kyiv is impossible. All he can hope to gain is a little border territory Russia does not need.

i think its because rasputin wants to reunite all of the former ussr countries back together and bring back the soviet union

No, to bring back the Russian Empire, in some form -- but Putin, despite his background in the KGB, is no Communist.

That was not quite his goal. The threat is NATO moving into Ukraine and closer to Russia. He wants that threat permanently ended. He's fighting Europe through Ukraine. An immediate knockout would have kept Europe out. Now Europe is committed to funding Ukraine and bankrupting itself.

Ukraine may take some of the regional power that Europe is losing, depending on what is left there after the war.
