Pot isn't any more or less dangerous than alcohol- both are equally dangerous. In a perfect world people would act responsibly under the influence of both and remain at home or in some other safe environment while intoxicated or high so they wouldn't pose a threat to innocent people. However, people often drive while drunk or high, exposing innocent people to irrational thoughts and actions. How realistic is it to think people will remain at home after getting high or drunk until it wears off fully? It's not realistic and that's where the problem begins. Alcohol is bad enough and people are stupid enough drunk- they don't need the added effects of marijuana. It's not a case of legalizing it or not legalizing it, it's a case of people's inability to control their own actions. It's similar to the idea that anarchy would be viable if all people were responsible and intelligent enough to control themselves. We all know that isn't the case. I know that when made illegal during the Prohibition years, alcohol became and even bigger problem in society and people acted even more irresponsibly than they previously had. There's no clear cut answer. If people had acted responsibly in the first place, alcohol would not have been made illegal thereafter. It all comes down to restraint. Some people can't control themselves and the rest of society suffers.
And my first post had nothing to do with why or why not pot should be legalized. I hate when people throw around facts and figures without actually having the resources to back them up. It's dangerous because someone might read one of the posts in which someone said pot doesn't impair you and then smoke, get in the car, and get into an accident. Hearsay and personal experience do not count as facts.
