Why is it more acceptable....

I would imagine it leads people's thoughts to the idea of having a *kept boy*. In that stereotype the woman is domineering, the man a little vacant. And that contradicts societies idea of a healthy relationship (the dominant, decision-making male).

In stories you always hear about the clingy housewife seducing the poolboy, pizza man, etc... That can't help things out.

Personally I don't see anything wrong with it. Each situation is different and it's not my right to judge.
