First RJ decides to disappear into the sunset, then I noticed Fungiug has put 'gone' underneath his AV.

When did he go? I never saw him leave.

Can we bolt the doors to stop others following?

I know its free will but it makes me sad to see people choose never to come back. :(

We and a few others noticed Fungi's 'Gone" but no-one I have spoken to saw any indication of why he would go or that he was thinking of it. Perhaps he is on vacation. Here's hoping. As to people going....it is unfortunately something people do from time to time IME. Sometimes they really go, other times they take a break or have other life situations demanding their atttention, and sometimes they return either under their old username or another one. It is sad and there are many I miss, but it seems fairly cyclical and often unavoidable on boards. Some just find it no longer answers their needs in a way they want them answered. And there are always new people coming to the forum so I guess in a way there remains a balance over time, just sometimes it is not quite how we would choose it to be.

I haven't been on line much the past week or so, life has been "being that way" again. :( I did ask him about it right when he left. It appears his life is being that way, too. Between work and vacation and holidays and all that, he needed a break. I don't know when/if he'll back though. Hopefully when life settles down a bit.

But yes, I'm still bummed about the people that are disappearing. Ebonyfire left before I got here, but I read her posts and get all wow. Mistress Hecate has been really busy with RL and stuff, from what I've seen on her site. JamesG5 is awol again and we don't hear from osg or Luna or DVS often enough lately either. I don't notice mariposa's sporadic visits being sporadic cause I see her a lot outside.

Will those of you that have a life please drop by and say hey every now and again so that those of us who don't can perve a little bit as we live vicariously through you?

Off to write a paper for the Prof from Hell.

As for the Wolven one..I left due to a move across state lines...then with the helladaze and everything else (not to mention lack of net access) life got in the way. Luckily, my life is back to be boringly linear once more and so I get to come play whilst the childer, the gf, s/o and petlings are busy. Yay!!

wandering back in with big old HUGS and gropes and kisses and licks for the Wolven One

Welcome back! (See how easy that was everybody?) So the move and all that when well? (Ours didn't. Glad someone's did!)

Now then, someone talk to me about "the Literature of the Proletariat of the Post World War I Generation".

Generally abysmal to a truly depressing degree never before seen by mankind..

Will that do????

Don't think everyone's leaving. Just that the current leavee's are more prominent posters then some of the others who have faded into the shadows.
If that makes sense.

*joins Ciara in hugging the Wolven One*

I think Vixandra is right. Also, the beginning of the year is always busy for me, so I imagine that it is the same for some of the others.

The boards do feel different lately... can't figure out exactly what it is. The main thing I have always found to make a message board less interesting is that people who post topics that have been discussed before are always reffered to old posts or a faq, yet on the other hand people complain when ancient threads are brought to the front.

People come and go, and everyone has a different opinion, and those people weren't around for those topics. Also, at some point it just becomes too time consuming. Reading through a thread with over 100 posts so you don't look like an ass when you post gets really old, and most people have better things to do. So if you weren't here when it started, it can be tough.

I think all of just makes people search for new things to post about and not always talk about what they care about or are going through at the time. Reading responses to a similar situation will never be the same as having people respond directly to yours...

Bah... I am babbling and really have no idea why...

i come and go weekley... Sometimes i'll be here a bunch for three or four days, sometimes i'll stop even looking at the boards for months at a time...

Life and computer probs have definitely gotten in the way of JamesG5 getting back on here. Work issues, a water leak that soaked his apartment and all the electronics in it, what with everything going to hell for hm right now, I'm not suprised Lit has dropped kinda low on his priority list.

Likewise.

Shall we start a waiting list?

I sometimes life just happens. For me there were a lot of variables that have kept me from lit.

But life seems to righting itself and getting back to as normal as my life is ever going to be.

I am here almost everyday. I just don't post much.

 for ciara and Miss Kitty and the Wolfen one....

.Hint Hint.. I know you don't like the man, babe, but you really should stop annoying him! Those of us who don't write as well or fast as you do will appreciate it in the long run!

You encouraged the man just as much as I did. The extra work was a group effort..

Sorry for bringing it up here, and you're right, I helped.

And there is one done by Milo Manara also... Just need to find a good way to display them.........

I think it's time for some new voices to be heard around the forums.

For example, look at this thread:

https://forum.literotica.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=309284

There are several posters that I usually enjoy reading, but honestly the best replies are from people with less than 500 posts. When we have these questions that some of us have seen a dozen times, maybe we veterans need to step back and let the new people talk?

Some of the old discussions were good but far from definitive or sacrosanct. Just referring everyone to the Library is counter-productive at times, especially if good threads from 2004 aren't being added and it is just a list of stuff from 2002.

I am not trying to tell people what to do, but maybe look at what the new people add to the mix and interact with them instead of just longing for names from long ago. It is not like any one person is the most fascinating poster of all time. Hopefully some of these new people turn into good posters and then the forum stays strong over time.

I enjoy reading new posters posts but I do find it sad when some long standing people no longer feel this is the place for them.

Might make for an interesting contest though .."Most Fascinating Poster of All Time" ..Or at least "Of The Year".

As for leaving..The nature of a board will change over time.
Some folks have more trouble with this than others.
The nature of the people posting will also change over time. Sometimes when you combine the two, you hit a point where you don't see the point of posting anymore.
Contributing to this is the sometimes constant re-hashing of an old argument, discussion, or position.

I would hazard that there are a lot of factors that influence any persons decision to post no longer..But my guess is the main one, is they just no longer enjoy it. For whatever reason.
